A story on wings. Life with my flock in picture and word. A little bit extra. Edible flowers, grasses and herbs. Things for Wings order! This was actually a combined order. What happened was that I purchased a part of the haul during side-walk sale and asked Danita, owner of T4W. To hold it for me for a little bit so I can add to my order later on and save on shipping. Well, that’s what I did and a HUGE box of goodies arrived yesterday! I asked her ” What kind? And now the pics! Passion flower shred and ...

Parrot Foraging and Fun: August 2010
http://kastelling.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html
Parrot Foraging and Fun. Saturday, August 21, 2010. This is to show what a horrifying mess a rabbit can make in just a few hours! It's a good thing he's cute! Sorry about the bad photos). Tonka loves little wooden beads, little sticks, and foam beads, so that is ALL that is on this toy. It also has some small pieces of dried indian corn, and some almonds with holes drilled through them tied on at various places. Each beige cup has treats inside and some sort of toy covering the opening. Foraging Ice Cube...

Parrot Foraging and Fun: It's easy to forget that sometimes simple is best!
http://kastelling.blogspot.com/2012/02/its-easy-to-forget-that-sometimes.html
Parrot Foraging and Fun. Friday, February 10, 2012. It's easy to forget that sometimes simple is best! I stole a simple but great idea from some friends of mine: I hung some dixie cups up around the playareas the other night for the birds to forage on. As soon as I hung each one up, Tonka was sprinting across the toys to get to it! But I held her back and let Norah get to one first, and it was a difficult one! This is foraging at it's most basic level, just like they would act in the wild. I love it!

Parrot Foraging and Fun: September 2010
http://kastelling.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
Parrot Foraging and Fun. Tuesday, September 7, 2010. I wanted to post some of the store bought foraging toys that Tonka really likes, starting with some of the first ones that he figured out, as a youngster! JW Nutcase- This one is a classic. It comes in two shapes, and mine is orange colored. I cram it with all kinds of goodies, paper wrapped treats, wooden sticks, etc. It is pretty easy, so now that Tonka is starting to get better about foraging, I am slowly making it more difficult by adding shredded ...

Parrot Foraging and Fun. Friday, March 22, 2013. Some destructable foraging toys:. My caiques went through a "foot toys are boring" phase, which happily seems to be passing. My first grain bake: Barley, cooked with cherries, applesauce, coconut oil and flaxseed, with some quinoa macaroni noodles and frozen peas and corn thrown in for fun. Seasoned with cinnamon, ginger and crushed red pepper. Baked in a dish with lots of water till cooked! Should last me awhile! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Parrot Foraging and Fun
http://kastelling.blogspot.com/2014/02/um-hi.html
Parrot Foraging and Fun. Sunday, February 2, 2014. Um, hi. Long time no blog. Nothing too exciting, but I do have some pics to upload. I figure, since I moved into my current home over a year ago, it might be time to post pics of the birds' current play areas. :). At my new home, the birds (two caiques who share a cage, and one red bellied parrot) have their own room, which I was very excited about, but not quite so much anymore. I don't love them being so separate. But it's a nice room!
