Cooking in Cucamonga: Janet Collins...My Spin on a Tom Collins
http://cookingincucamonga.blogspot.com/2011/06/janet-collinsmy-spin-on-tom-collins.html
Monday, June 6, 2011. Janet Collins. My Spin on a Tom Collins. Have you ever watched Mad Men? The husband and I are big fans of the show, though we're a few seasons behind because we just started watching it on DVD a few months ago. I love the suave business environment with men in hats and liquid lunches. Well, let's be honest, it's not just liquid lunches, but drinks pretty much every moment of the day. After watching 2 seasons of the show, and reading part of Boozehound. 2 shots gin (use the god stuff).
Cooking in Cucamonga: July 2012
http://cookingincucamonga.blogspot.com/2012_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 5, 2012. The husband and I recently tried the lobster roll with butter from the Lobsta Truck. At a local food truck fest. We're both big fans of lobster-well, of shellfish in general, really-and I'm a fan of food trucks, so we were pretty excited to eat at the Lobsta Truck. Since there were so many different food trucks there that I wanted to try, and the fact that a lobster roll was $12, we decided to split one. They were better than what we sampled from the Lobsta Truck-so much so, that ...
Cooking in Cucamonga: Singapore Sling
http://cookingincucamonga.blogspot.com/2012/05/singapore-sling.html
Tuesday, May 22, 2012. I think I may have established that I love gin ( Janet Collins. It is definitely my go to spirit, replacing vodka's long-held top spot as my boozy favorite. And my current favorite gin-based drink is this retro cocktail: the Singapore Sling. It's a fruity, sweet concoction that reminds me of Hawaii (even though I pretty much only drank Mai Tais and beer in Hawaii). If you're hesitant to give gin a try, this is the perfect cocktail. 1/2 ounce cherry brandy. 4 ounces pineapple juice.

Cooking in Cucamonga: Blackberry Cranberry Sauce
http://cookingincucamonga.blogspot.com/2010/12/blackberry-cranberry-sauce.html
Wednesday, December 1, 2010. This was the second year that the husband and I hosted Thanksgiving dinner in our home- we like the tradition of inviting our families over and cooking a big meal for everyone. Last year, I made the majority of the meal, but asked each of our families to bring a dish as well. This year I decided to make the entire meal myself, which gave me the chance to try out some new recipes. 12 ounces fresh cranberries. 188; teaspoon salt. 188; teaspoon allspice. Heat over medium-high he...

http://icecreamandwine.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html
September 30, 2010. Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins. Y'all, I absolutely am in love with autumn. By far, it is my favorite season. I grew up in Nebraska, and there were wonderful orchards that I frequented every year with my family. I remember how excited my grandma would be about having her granddaughters with her - showing us off to her neighbors (hello, rural Nebraska! Buying my sister and me endless amounts of rock candy, honey sticks and warm apple pie. Pretty new place mat! 1/2 cup packed brown sugar.

May 10, 2010. Indian-Spiced Burgers and Cumin Yogurt Sauce. I love (I mean, LOVE. My husband and I were talking about our love for turkey burgers just the other day. We decided that we don't just like them because they're a little bit better for you than hamburgers, but we like them because we just enjoy the taste. Seriously, so good. I look at turkey burgers as a blank slate - an open canvass that is waiting to be painted.with toppings and spices. I thought so too. Okay, so I've made these delicious.

ICE CREAM & WINE: December 2009

December 20, 2009. Dark Chocolate Mint Chip Shortbread Cookies. An impressive name, right? I love shortbread cookies, and as my sister stated, they are "definitely an under-rated cookie." I love the buttery, sugary goodness - it just melts in your mouth. I found the following recipe online, and then added my own little treat - Nestle's Dark Chocolate and Mint Chips.yum! Original recipe: Allrecipes.com - Tina's Shortbread Chocolate Chip Cookies. 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder.
ICE CREAM & WINE: CSA : J&P Organics
http://icecreamandwine.blogspot.com/2011/01/csa-j-organics.html
January 12, 2011. CSA : J&P Organics. My husband and I belong to the best CSA program - although it's our first CSA that we've joined, so we have no comparison. But it's great! We get our produce each week from J&P Organics. However, we truly enjoy our produce and fully support J&P Organics. Some of our produce from J&P Organics. We do our grocery shopping at 8:00 AM on Sunday mornings (no crowds! I get rather excited when I find a recipe that includes almost all the various types of vegetables that we h...
ICE CREAM & WINE: June 2010
http://icecreamandwine.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
June 24, 2010. I'm finally back with a recipe! I know a lot of people are weary to use their crock pot during the summer months. Doesn't the crock pot just scream. I think so too! However, this recipe is too good. You can't wait 6 months to try it. It's a great Indian dish - and vegetarian to boot! If you're a meat lover, I promise you won't even miss it in this dish. I served this yummy curry dish over brown basmati rice and it was perfect. Leftovers? Source: Fitnessista - Eggplant Curry. June 14, 2010.
ICE CREAM & WINE: November 2010
http://icecreamandwine.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
November 16, 2010. While I have begun listening to Christmas music, I'm a firm believer that autumn treats should still be consumed in full force until Thanksgiving. There's just something about fall flavors that excite me - pecans, pumpkin, apples, cinnamon - such wonderful aromas and treats for the taste buds! When I stumbled across these (vegan! Pumpkin Blondies over on Hillary's blog. Source: Nutrition Nut on the Run. 3/4 c canned pumpkin. 1/2 c brown sugar. 1/4 c almond milk (or soy milk).
ICE CREAM & WINE: Coconut Macaroons
http://icecreamandwine.blogspot.com/2011/01/coconut-macaroons.html
January 9, 2011. Before I start praising Coconut Macaroons, I must first share some information about my shameful past. I was, by far, the pickiest eater as a child. Onions? Gross Mushrooms. Yeah, right. Coconut? Don't even make me. I can only laugh at how far my taste buds have come. Most of my willingness to try new food stems from my relationship with my husband. That man will try anything! Note you can use either sweetened or unsweetened coconut. Source: Coconut Macaroons III, All Recipes. January 10...
