Wicked Good Thrifty Cooking: June 2010
http://cookingthrifty.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html
Wicked Good Thrifty Cooking. Trying to feed our families mostly local, mostly organic healthy food on a budget. Sunday, June 13, 2010. Chicken, Chicken, Chicken! Cold Chicken with Potatoes and Anchovies. This worked out well because I used the rest of the tin of anchovies in the next recipe. About 2 cups of roughly chopped chicken. 1/2-1 tin of anchovies, chopped. 1 clove of garlic, minced. A handful of parsley, chopped. This one Jake wasn't so wild about but the girls loved. Chicken and Olive Fry-up.
Wicked Good Thrifty Cooking: Venison Round
http://cookingthrifty.blogspot.com/2010/05/venison-round.html
Wicked Good Thrifty Cooking. Trying to feed our families mostly local, mostly organic healthy food on a budget. Tuesday, May 25, 2010. Next night - I cut up the venison and stir-fried it with garlic and veggies. I started the rice first, and then chopped up all of the vegetables. I used kale, beet greens and winter onions. I chopped the garlic very fine and kept it separate. Then I heated about 2 tsp of olive oil in my wok (you could use a frying pan instead) and added just the garlic. We are trying to h...

Wicked Good Thrifty Cooking. Trying to feed our families mostly local, mostly organic healthy food on a budget. Thursday, June 10, 2010. You may remember that I said I was going to make a chilled soup with the stock from some pork chop bones. I came across a number of yummy cold soup recipes, but I decided on a recipe for vichyssoise. PS - I have run across this soup from time to time, but I still had to look up how to pronounce it - vee - see - schwaz! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Artisan Bread i...

Wicked Good Thrifty Cooking: Tonight - Hamburgers, Guac and Deviled Eggs
http://cookingthrifty.blogspot.com/2010/02/tonight-hamburgers-guac-and-deviled.html
Wicked Good Thrifty Cooking. Trying to feed our families mostly local, mostly organic healthy food on a budget. Thursday, February 4, 2010. Tonight - Hamburgers, Guac and Deviled Eggs. I used to hate hamburgers, I now love them. Of course, tonight what we will actually be having is burgers made with ground venison and about 20% pork. There isn't enough fat in venison to keep it from drying out if we didn't add the ground pork, but they taste delicious! What a feast - and thrifty too! NOTE: I was at my co...

Cooks for a Crowd: Mushroom Bourguinon
http://mommycooksforacrowd.blogspot.com/2011/12/mushroom-bourguinon.html
Cooks for a Crowd. Thursday, December 29, 2011. I love this recipe. From Deb at Smitten Kitchen. It's been awhile since I made it, but it will make your house smell divine. Two things I want to share about this time around. Thing #1: I love these new-to-me frozen herb cubes. The rest of the paste in tablespoony portions. And so I did:. Put them) in a freezer bag, and TA-DA! But I'm going to ignore you and have a celebratory glass of wine for being such a culinary-effing-genius. Yo. Putting this informati...

Cooks for a Crowd: July 2011
http://mommycooksforacrowd.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
Cooks for a Crowd. Wednesday, July 27, 2011. I made these Charred Corn Tacos. For dinner last night. They were uber-yummy, even though I persist in calling it "scorched corn" for no apparent reason. And despite the fact that I forgot to add the chili powder and feta. But did add some red bell pepper when I added the "scorched" corn. Do you know how many times you can type "scorched" before it looks weird? Twice You can type it twice before you start doubting yourself and spell check it. And google it.

Cooks for a Crowd: January 2014
http://mommycooksforacrowd.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Cooks for a Crowd. Tuesday, January 21, 2014. Three weeks in and I love this diet. I'm not a proselytizer.so I'll just tell you what I love about it for me. 1 I never feel deprived. I think if I was more stringent about fats, I'd be losing weight more quickly, but it is way way easier for me to stick to an eating plan where I'm always full. 2 I really do have more energy. I thought that was a bullshit claim, but it's true. Things that surprised me:. My staples so far:. Clothes Make the Girl Pad Thai.

Cooks for a Crowd: January 2012
http://mommycooksforacrowd.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Cooks for a Crowd. Sunday, January 8, 2012. I'm sure I've shared this before. The almost-five-year-old won't eat what I make for dinner. In fact she has even taken "tasting bites," declared it "yummy," and promptly refused to eat anymore. She will state, "I don't like what's for dinner" before I. Even know what's for dinner. So imagine my shock when I turned around the other night and she had hoovered up the half portion of these corn bites. Just an update on the quinoa. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Cooks for a Crowd: April 2011
http://mommycooksforacrowd.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Cooks for a Crowd. Thursday, April 7, 2011. Dude This is what I get for not paying attention to popular media: Rachel Ray stole my schtick. Um, 'cause you know. I'm way more accomplished than her as a cook. Totally. Ahem. Ok, so maybe she did it first. Whatever, Rachel. But on the plus side. I trust her. She is hella. It's ridiculous.I always make new recipes. There are a few I go back to over and over. But not many. I don't know why. Even when we're having company. It's an illness. From good ol' Rach:.

Cooks for a Crowd. Thursday, August 25, 2011. I started writing this post pretending that what we had for dinner was really good. I'm not sure why I did that. It should have been yummy. But it was icky. Don't run away! It should have been yummy. So try it anyway. Here is the fascinating story of how I decided to make Buttermilk and Corn Popovers, and tomatoes and cheese for dinner:. Apr 8, 2016. Something i think about often, before going to bed, is about how much i am blessed to have a loving and supportive family. When things got rough back in jersey they stood by my side and really gave me an extra hand when i needed it most. Guys, I was pretty lost in a world of chaos and bad friends. My family was the one thing that was steady and true. I now know i can always count on you guys and i really appreciate everything you have done for me from the bottom of my heart. So in closing i ...

Cooking through Cleveland
Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Tomorrow, I'm heading out of town with my girlfriends for a long weekend trip (bachelorette party to be exact). So, with all of the packing I need to do, a quick and easy dinner was a must. But, even when I'm super-busy, I try to come up with something interesting and healthy to eat. So for tonight, I made a pizza that's modeled after one I ate once at Lolita:. Wild mushroom with arugula. Here's what you need:. 1 pre-made pizza crust. 1 package sliced wild mushrooms. Anyway, thi...
