Cooking with Eva: August 2008
http://cookingwitheva.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 27, 2008. I'm still picking chanterelles. I have found this wonderful place in the forest behind my house. It's a little opening between the trees, and the ground is covered in orange, meaty and delicious chenterelles. I call it my heaven. I have lost count on how many pounds I have picked so far. Most of them are already in the freezer, but last night - after another hunt for the forest gold - I sauteed some of the mushrooms in REAL butter and ate them with brown rice. You can basicall...
Cooking with Eva: April 2009
http://cookingwitheva.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 21, 2009. I've decided to go vegetarian for the next 365 days! As it is, I actually started on April 1st. One of my friends thought it was an April Fools Day joke, but I was a few days short of my Easter vacation and it seemed like a good idea to start. Besides it's spring; A lot of fresh vegetables will show up on the market in the next few weeks, and I will have a lot of delicious ingredients to choose from. I am curious to see if this is true. Actually, I met my first 'wall' during my E...
Cooking with Eva: Tomato sauce with onion and butter

Thursday, February 11, 2010. Tomato sauce with onion and butter. Pasta has been one of my favorite dinner staples for the last 20 years. I especially like spaghetti with tomato sauce. I have been looking for the perfect tomato sauce ever since I started cooking my dinner, but I have never gotten it 'right'. It sounded so simple. Almost too simple: Canned tomatoes, onion, butter and salt. Could that be the 'secret' recipe I had been looking for? Tomato sauce with butter and onion. It's the butter. It ...
Cooking with Eva: I have bronchitis and I can't exercise.
http://cookingwitheva.blogspot.com/2010/02/i-have-bronchitis-and-i-cant-exercise.html
Thursday, February 4, 2010. I have bronchitis and I can't exercise. I hate being sick. I just hate it! As it happens, I have gotten bronchitis and it hurts to breathe in the cold air outside. I drink a lot of water every day, but I need solid food too. Unfortunately, nothing tastes good these days. It's like my mouth has dried up and my taste buds went numb. It's a food bloggers nightmare! I can't wait to be over the bronhitis and getting back to my normal cook-and-eat mode. My 2010 resolution is to go v...

Monday, April 28, 2008. Salmon and rice with vegetables in pita bread. Leftover rice is a common problem with a simple solution. Mix with vegetables, add meat or fish and dump into a pita bread. Voila, dinner! Here's what I had for dinner today:. 1 cup leftover rice. 2 spring onions, finely sliced. 6 champignon mushrooms, sliced. 1/2 cup frozen peas. 1/4 salmon fillet, cubed. 1 to 2 teaspoons soy sauce. Salt and pepper to taste. 6 to 8 tablespoons tatziki (-Greek yoghurt sauce with garlic and cucumber).

Lemon Garlic Shrimp Pasta. Lemon Garlic Shrimp Pasta. Here's something to make for lunch if you work from home like me, or for dinner if not :). 5-8 large raw shrimp, shells retained. 1/4 cup white wine. Kosher salt and fresh ground pepper. If your shrimp are frozen, thaw them, then peel them, saving the shells (it's where the flavor is). Dry them once they're thawed, and then salt and pepper them on both sides - set aside. Avoid zesting off fingernails. Ahem. The pasta water should be boiling by this ti...
