http://shootingstarsofthought.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Shooting stars of thought. A collection of captured moments of inspiration, excitement, anticipation, and eco-consciousness. Wednesday, May 30, 2007. I'm only about three chapters in to Barbara Kingsolver's Animal, Vegetable, Miracle. And I'm hooked. I actually think I may have to put the book on hiatus for a few days (see below), but I didn't want to wait to share this quote:. Although to my defense I've read two exerpts - here. And, in print, here. Mmm I can't think of a more pleasurable Monday evening...

"SQUEEET": Happy New Year and Ribeye Roast
http://bmgarnerseat.blogspot.com/2008/12/happy-new-year.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Happy New Year and Ribeye Roast. This evening, to celebrate the total disappearance of the year 2008 and the first glimpses of 2009, we had our kids and their kids over for food and drink. The highlight of the evening was the meal: ribeye roast, slow-cooked hashbrowns, whole corn, mixed veggies, and french bread. The wine, red, was from a local winery, Felicitas, which was a Christmas gift from my sister and brother-in-law. Once the meat reaches 135 degrees, remove from oven...

Not my best effort to be sure, but if you have access to decent canned crab they make a great dinner! Not the best photo, but it is what it is. 1 lb lump crabmeat, picked over for shells and such. 2 tsp Old Bay or similar. Tops of 4 green onions. 1 egg, beaten. 2 Tbsp Dijon or Mustard with seeds. 1 garlic clove, minced.

We had fun making it and of course the kids had fun eating it, even though the candy is super hard and probably super old. Denzil and Kris built a snow cave in the front yard and slept in it. On...
