Tuesday, May 20, 2008. The Night Kitchen - A Treasure in Montague, MA. Before we knew it we had arrived at our destination once again Professor Layton proved to be mentally superior, at least for the time being! The Montague Mill located at 440 Greenfield Road is a historic landmark and the home to a compilation of neat little shops, a really interesting book stor...

Friday, July 25, 2008. 25,000 Backyard Giveaway – Hot Diggity Dog! I recently received an email from Hebrew National – the hot dog folks “who answer to a higher authority”, highlighting their “$25,000 Ultimate Backyard Upgrade” contest. Instantly, my mind began to wander, how would I upgrade the backyard with $25,000 grand? A few months ago, I saw this really cool outdoor kitchen that got my culinary juices flowing, here is a picture of what I would call an ultimate grill set-up! This mustard recipe goes...

Saturday, January 31, 2009. The Gypsy Kitchen - Week # 1. A Traveling Culinary Adventure. Oh what a wonderful feeling…. Right now I’m sitting in our motor coach with a cup of hot coffee, watching the sunrise over the Atlantic at beautiful Hunting Island, South Carolina. It reached a high of 58 degrees yesterday…not exactly HOT…but it sure beats the 11 degrees in Maine a week ago! We left Maine with over two feet of snow in our yard and were happy to see grass, albeit brown as early as New Jersey. Arrive...

Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Here I am standing on my "soap box" screaming about all-natural, organic, sustainable and healthy eating choices and right under my nose my mom (who lives about a mile away) has become a junk food junkie. I simply cannot allow her to consume this rubbish- artificial chocolate snacks, ice cream, processed instant dinners that are loaded with sugar, artificial ingredients, trans fats and worse. Shortly after returning home, I found my favorite leather chair, kicked off my shoes a...

Wednesday, January 23, 2008. CLONED STEAKS.AM I DREAMING? I don't know how many of you have caught the recent news articles regarding the FDA's stance that food from certain cloned animals and their offspring is safe to eat and that current FDA regulations could allow for these products to find their way into our grocery baskets without any notice, special labeling or guidelines! Did I miss something? Have I been dreaming? Does any mother out there actually think that feeding her child a "cloned" cheeseb...

Tuesday, February 5, 2008. Okay, what does an Irish kid living in Maine know about making a delicious Jambalaya? Well, years ago I had the privledge and pleasure to work at a culinary charity event in Boston with Chef Paul Prudhomme. That experience is one of the highlights of my culinary career! I have always recieved praise for the dish everytime I prepare it, but the real praise must go to Chef Prudhomme who is a modern day culinary icon.thanks Paul for your inspiration and vision. 3 each - bay leaves.
