Our European Adventures: February 2008
http://huberhotspot.blogspot.com/2008_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 21, 2008. We are heading home today. The first thing we had to do was pack our things and cleanup the apartment. It was a big job to get everything packed and organized to go. We brought an extra duffle bag to bring home souveniers for us and my dad and brothers who couldn't come. We took some pictures of us in the apartment before we left. After getting ourselves ready we headed to the RER station to catch the subway to Charles De Guille airport for our flight. During World War II the...

Our European Adventures: Day 9: Galleria & Villa Borghese
http://huberhotspot.blogspot.com/2009/02/day-9-galleria-villa-borghese.html
Friday, February 20, 2009. Day 9: Galleria and Villa Borghese. We started out our day with an English tour of Galleria Borghese. Galleria Borghese is an art museum which is in the Borghese family's country estate from the late 1500's. The Bernini statues showed action and emotion and were not centered on their base (like a statue of David with his weight shifted forward on one foot apparently ready to strike with his sling). These were elements in marble sculpture that had never been seen before! We all ...

Our European Adventures: Day 8: Pompeii for a day
http://huberhotspot.blogspot.com/2009/02/day-8-pompeii-for-day.html
Thursday, February 19, 2009. Day 8: Pompeii for a day. Today we headed out early for a day trip to Pompeii. Pompeii was an ancient coastal town near Naples that was buried in volcanic ash when Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD. We saw all kinds of ancient businesses and homes. They were very sophisticated for 2000 year ago, with wells and resevoirs to collect rainwater for daily chores, as well as indoor plumbing that ran fountains, drinking water and toilets. Bakeries with ovens and grinding mills. We not...

Our European Adventures: Day 4: Ancient Rome
http://huberhotspot.blogspot.com/2009/02/ancient-rome.html
Sunday, February 15, 2009. Day 4: Ancient Rome. We LOVED the Roman Forum! After the crypt we went out for Gelato. A strange transition but very delicious! They had two scoops for only 2 Euro's which is about $2.65. A good deal and lots of flavors to choose from. After the visit to St. Clemente we all met up at the apartment and made a nice dinner and relaxed. Now it is time for bed, we have another busy day of site seeing tomorrow. Our European Adventures: Day 5: Vatican City
http://huberhotspot.blogspot.com/2009/02/day-5-vatican-city.html
Monday, February 16, 2009. Day 5: Vatican City. Today we headed out bright and early to catch the Metro subway to go to Vatican City. The Vatican" is actually it's own state, not part of Rome and has it's own government and city services. We had a 10:30am tour so we had to hustle to get there on time. The tour was with a big group and we all had headsets so we could hear the guide. It was really cool, we loved it! Then we headed over to St. Peter's Basillica for a look around. St Peter's got it's name be...

Our European Adventures: Day 3: Valentine's Day in Rome
http://huberhotspot.blogspot.com/2009/02/day-2-valentines-day-in-rome.html
Saturday, February 14, 2009. Day 3: Valentine's Day in Rome. We started our day today by sleeping in-yay! Around every turn was yet another site that had to be like 2000 yeas old, we found out later it was the site of an ancient Gladiator school. How facsinating is that? And there we were taking a morning jog in the midst of it all. We felt like international runners, it was really fun! Aunt Beth supervised the other kids in the park. They played soccer and ran around in the sunshine. We found ourselves ...
