Standing up to Powerful Interests. Costco: Phase out toxic chemicals in your products. There shouldn't be chemicals linked to cancer in our couches or pots and pans. And across the country, more and more consumers are looking for non-toxic household items. Large retailers like Target and Walmart are already implementing chemical policies to ensure products are free of harmful chemicals. But Costco is lagging behind, and has yet to announce a policy ensuring its products do not contain toxic chemicals.
