Abiding In Jesus

As our daddy writes a chapter on the Reformation and printing and the Oral Word of God being spread throughout the world, we focused in on Martin Luther in school today and our hearts are so encouraged. Today the connection was made, "Martin Luther was brave, like Jim. He was willing to do a hard thing so others could know Jesus personally.". Where is He asking you to be brave for Him today? We go forward trusting. Thank you for joining us in this journey. And, Happy Reformation Day! My connect group inc...

Abiding In Jesus: Susannah, Sheep, Swahili and Structures

http://coppedgeafrica.blogspot.com/2015/03/susannah-sheep-swahili-and-structures.html

Susannah, Sheep, Swahili and Structures. One of the greatest gifts of being on this continent has been being nearer to family! While in Uganda, Jesus provided "family" and we are so eternally grateful for that network of relationships that has shaped and continues to make us more like Him. This past month though we got to see our cousin/neice Susannah. We were just with her over Christmas and in the Lord's kindness we got to connect again! The fabulous wooly sheep and precious lambs just in her "backyard!

Abiding In Jesus: Have you read any good books lately?

http://coppedgeafrica.blogspot.com/2015/03/have-you-read-any-good-books-lately.html

Have you read any good books lately? A happy Scottish hair cut a few weeks back! Yesterday I found myself under the careful clipping scissors of a young twenties Scottish lass. We chatted about Friday mornings' solar eclipse and quiet quickly got on the fact that there must be a "higher power" if the sun and moon even are under Someone's great control. Thank you for caring for the ones we care for whether we get to tell the stories orally or just pass out the book in print! Joy Phillips, WGM Sudan.

Abiding In Jesus: O give thanks to LORD for He is good

http://coppedgeafrica.blogspot.com/2015/03/o-give-thanks-to-lord-for-he-is-good.html

O give thanks to LORD for He is good. The longer we live here the more we realise some incredible people have walked the way He is leading us. It often seems super isolating to be honest to come from a world so far away to another world that is so unique and yet still not our own. To be constantly the visitors isn't super comforting, but it is how He has led us and we know He is trustworthy. Reading Psalm 107 this morning has been a helpful perspective:. Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them.

Abiding In Jesus: Homeschool Recap

http://coppedgeafrica.blogspot.com/2015/05/homeschool-recap.html

It's my JOB to hang out with these cuties! It's also my business to teach them a thing or two. It's my calling in life right now to disciple them to walk in Christ's love and life. It's a high and holy calling. I fight it a few days each week.but I know it's right and. I know He's loving and leading in spite of the teacher/mom/lady in charge! Some families homeschool because they are convicted it is the only Christian response to parenting and child rearing. We have LOVED swimming lessons. We have attemp...

Abiding In Jesus: Accents and Animals

http://coppedgeafrica.blogspot.com/2015/03/accents-and-animals.html

One of the dear gifts Jesus has given us in Scotland is precious neighbours and friends that have loved us and our girls so selflessly! Our neighbours Tom and Joan have loved having snuggles from the girls from time to time and have served their share of juice and biscuits in return! Tom has started stopping by periodically on his morning walks to read to the girls in a "proper Scottish accent" which he thinks must be lacking in their education! Posted by Billy and Joanna Coppedge. Joy Phillips, WGM Sudan.

Sunday, July 29, 2012. Along highways and byways. On Friday, July 13th, Jean Komline arrived for a 6 week visit to Uganda. She has been a WGM Volunteer in the past and we adore her. Because she asked for a trip north to visit our missionaries in Arua (8-9 hrs. drive northwest), we all worked out a road trip. Which began on the 14th! Upon reaching Arua, we all stayed with Scott and Meg Rambo, Kelly's brother. Those NJ folks are cool! Note: yes, I'm originally from Jersey too). ;). Rambo's have several ani...

Tuesday, August 21, 2012. Homeland Ministry Assignment (HMA) is coming FAST! Okay so apparently I'm a slow processor of all sorts of things such as feelings, decisions, and reality checks. But as I'm thinking about her departure, I also am realizing that -EEK-. I too will departing Uganda this year (in December), and it is nearly the end of August! And yet how can I plan for Christmas and those months in the USA when I'm still in the first week of the new school year? Last time I was in the USA, I had an...

The Fishline Online: June 2012

http://thefishlineonline.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 23, 2012. So this year, we offered it again, for grades 4-12. There were 11 students who participated this time, and seeing evidence of Jesus' work in their lives meant so much. Josh, a WGM missionary and our school chaplain, had offered baptism classes ahead of time, and each student provided a testimony of how they met Christ as well as a brief statement of why they wanted to be baptized. Below: the group of students who were baptized. Senior Trip: Bulago Island, Lake Victoria. Above: th...
