I’ve been wandering up and down hills ever since, some of them a little larger and farther from home. Mont Buet, France. Most of my hillwalking articles have been published in The Great Outdoors. These have included a number of Wild Walk guides, with routes on the edge of Dartmoor. One in the Lake District even incorporated a canoe trip.

This one was a little too small, and soon went back. One for the pot, or something like that. This one even had a sauce accompaniment. Peeled, and ready to eat. They were a generous lot those Jokkmokk lakeside visitors. I’ve since learned that many Sami consider perch the best eating fish in their waters. I might just have to agree.
