Contained within the following pages is my private numismatic collection of early American currency which was aggressively put together over the span of more then a decade. I can assure you that all the individual varieties are pretty scarce and some downright rare, especially in nice condition. Just so there is no misunderstanding these Contemporary Counterfeits made in the eighteenth century were produced to serve as money then, not now, and are genuine to the period not modern copies to fool collectors.

Counterfeit Family Information

I have found these are the TYPICAL Sprigs employed by these Families. I assume there are exceptions but feel the Sprigs might be a kind of signature, either consciously or unconsciously. They are not always exactly the same, since they are punched or engraved separately into each die but usually have a very similar layout for each Family. There are many more Families and as time permits I will add to this sheet.

A few years after I started collecting and researching Contemporary Counterfeits, I along with a few friends wrote several articles about the different Families. These are somewhat out dated now i.e. new dates have been discovered within certain Families, but the theories are still applicable.
