Parys Mountain, Amlwch, Anglesey

The Mona and Parys copper mines were located on Parys Mountain about two miles south of Amlwch in Anglesey. It was here on 2nd March 1768, that a large vein of copper ore was discovered. This later developed into the largest copper mine in the world. Parys Mountain retains the scars of mining activity since 1768. A number of building and artefacts remain. However it is the vivid colours caused by the processes used to extract the ore which visitors admire today. Things to do at Parys Mountain.

COPPER KING GOLD MINE, SOUTHEASTERN, WYOMING. The Copper King mine was once a small commercial copper mine with low-grade gold anomalies near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Drilling and exploration since the 1950s, identified a 2-million ounce equivalent gold-copper Proterozoic age porphyry deposit. Such deposits often have deep, mineralized roots. Mapping by Professor Hausel (the GemHunter) led to discovery of a fault offset that suggests there is likely an extension of the ore body. Wednesday, October 9, 2013.
