2009 England Hymn and Literary Pilgrimage. Wednesday, May 20, 2009. Day 9 - Wednesday- May 20. Before driving out of Edinburgh, we sang at the old Glasite Church of Christ. Which was built in 1835. On the trip to the north of England, we had a wonderful surprise when we were joined by my daughter, Susie. And " Now the Day is Over. We stopped to take pictures and sing in front of his small apartment where he wrote the hymns, and then we sang inside St. John's Church. 2009 England Hymn and Literary Pilgrimage. Tuesday, May 12, 2009. Day 1- Tuesday May 12. Today, we motored through the beautiful English countryside to the lovely village of Chawton where we toured Jane Austen's home. Jane Austen, I have learned,is one of England's most widely-read novelists. Although her books deal with courtship and end with marriage, she, ironically, was never married. She lived in Chawton from 1809 until 1817 and wrote 3 novels and revised 3 others during her stay.

2009 England Hymn and Literary Pilgrimage. Monday, May 18, 2009. Day 7 - Monday - May 18. We began the day with a glorious drive as we exit the Lake District. We motored through the north of England and into Scotland. Each day, I think that the scenery cannot get better, but each day equals or exceeds the latter. Soon after crossing the border we will visit Gretna Green. Near Melrose, we were given a guided tour of Abbotsford, the residence of Sir Walter Scott. Wall End Church of Christ Farewell.
