Mastering the art of Kosher Cooking: September 2008
http://artofkoshercooking.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Friday, September 26, 2008. I've been putting this off for quite some time, but Rosh Hashanah is fast approaching and it's time to share one of my favourite recipes of all time: My mom's apple pie. My hand writing is quite a bit nicer than R's, isn't it? It really is that easy to make this pie crust. And I'm about to show you one of the best tricks I've ever learned in the kitchen: You can avoid a lot of mess by rolling your pie dough between two sheets of waxed paper. So here we go. 2-3 tbsp cold water.

Mastering the art of Kosher Cooking: Hummus!
http://artofkoshercooking.blogspot.com/2009/06/hummus.html
Tuesday, June 23, 2009. On Sunday, R and I had my dad and his girlfriend over for Father's Day. We took them for a bike ride at one of our favourite spots and then cooked them a barbecue dinner: Mengal style! We made skewered chicken, Israeli salad, and (of course) fresh hummus. Today I've got a recipe for hummus to share with you. I love warm hummus with pita bread! Juice of 1 whole lemon. 1 tsp lemon zest (optional). 2 cups cooked chick peas with a bit of their water*. 1/4 cup olive oil. Canned chickpe...

Mastering the art of Kosher Cooking: Deconstructed Hummus
http://artofkoshercooking.blogspot.com/2009/04/deconstructed-hummus.html
Monday, April 20, 2009. Okay, my goal was to post here three times a month at the LEAST, but I think that I've been pretty bad at keeping my promise to do that. But to be fair, I've been busy! Let me tell you though: I love Passover seders. I love chicken soup with matzoh balls and I looooove horseradish on matzoh. And of course I love brisket. Who doesn't? 1 can of chickpeas, drained. 1 tsp olive oil. 1/2 tsp lemon juice. 1 clove of garlic, pressed (or garlic salt if you're in a real hurry). I made humm...

Mastering the art of Kosher Cooking: July 2009
http://artofkoshercooking.blogspot.com/2009_07_01_archive.html
Friday, July 24, 2009. Did I ever tell the story about the Swiss Girls who we met at the Dead Sea in Israel? I don't think that I did, because I don't think that I told many stories at all about Israel. Our stolen luggage really soured the trip more than I wanted it to, and that tends to be what I focus on when recalling our time there. But we have some great stories, and this is one of them. Okay, so here's the story:. She went over and talked to them and they promised to keep an eye on our car for us.

Mastering the art of Kosher Cooking: October 2008
http://artofkoshercooking.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Baba Luba's stamp of approval. We went to visit Baba Luba this weekend. Before we came, R asked her if she'd like us to bring some honey cake. "Just a piece," she said. But I can't make "just a piece" of honey cake, so I made two small loaves instead. She tried to kill me! Links to this post. Wednesday, October 22, 2008. 1 pumpkin, 3 delicious recipes. Ask anybody over the age of 50 and they'll attest to the importance of frugality. Kids these days! They throw too much away!

Mastering the art of Kosher Cooking: March 2009
http://artofkoshercooking.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Wednesday, March 11, 2009. A perfectly shaped hamantashen box! I'm not a huge fan of Martha Stewart most of the time, but I was browsing through her site looking for ideas for wedding favours, and guess what I found! Source: http:/ thecraftsdept.marthastewart.com/2009/03/purimtreats.html. The picture doesn't give the best idea of it, but it's a triangle shaped box that you can make to give your hamantashen away in. Follow the link below the picture for the pattern so that you can make your own! Place the...

Mastering the art of Kosher Cooking: December 2008
http://artofkoshercooking.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 31, 2008. Challah for lazy people. I love this stuff! It still requires work, but making your challah dough in the bread machine saves you some of the hassle. I do most of my bread doughs in the bread machine. It's just easier and I've never noticed a decline in taste or quality. Then again, it's not like I'm a bread connoisseur or anything. So here we go with the recipe:. 4 tbsp butter (or shortening if you want it to be parve). 3-3/4 cups white flour. 1 tsp bread machine yeast.

Mastering the art of Kosher Cooking: January 2009
http://artofkoshercooking.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Sunday, January 25, 2009. I love it when I can cook something that impresses other people. I love to hear exclamations of, "Oh wow, this must have taken you all day! Or, "I heard that these are so hard to make! And I just smile modestly and say, "Oh, it's not thaaaat hard.". But really. Perogies are NOT that hard. You'll be shocked by how easy they are to prepare and how hard they are to screw up. First, the potato-cheese filling:. 5-6 medium sized potatoes (I used yukon gold). 1/2 onion, diced. 2 Place ...

Otaku Runner. Sometimes photographer. Last night when I walked up the stairs I thought about how I’ve gotten used to walking up and down stairs all the time in our house. I remember the first few weeks after we moved in and it felt odd walking everywhere within our home when I’d been used to taking a few steps […]. I’m half tempted to do another 365 project. Or maybe a 52 week project? A photo a week? It Will Stop Raining. Proudly powered by WordPress.

It was the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival (also known as Sakura Sunday) and part of the park was full of Japanese food vendors, merch stands, cosplayers, and several musical performers on a stage. There was also karaoke and a puppy parade. 28 April 2013 @ 12:05 pm. Captain Harlock Fountain Pen! 09 April 2013 @ 02:15 pm. Ghost in the Shell. Ghost in the shell. Viewing most recent entries.
