New woodland at Corkagh. At Corkagh groves you will notice groves of new trees. These mixed deciduous woodland areas have been planted by the parks department in the last 20 years. A spring known locally as the Sruleen Well rises near the top of the path and dribbles along a ditch to merge eventually with the Camac River. Corkagh Park: The Gunpowder mills.

Behind the fishing lakes, at the southern end, can be found a mill pond. Behind the pond, on privately owned land lie the ruins of the 19th century gunpowder mill. If you search (carefully) to the left of the pond you will see a stream and the remains of a mill wheel. In the late 18th centuy an immense explosion blew the foundations of the gunpowder mill here into surrounding fields. Labels: camac valley caravan park. Corkagh Park: Oak Avenue

Oak Avenue, so called because it was lined on either side by mature Oaks trees, led to Corkagh house from its main entrance at the Naas Road. It was once lined on both sides by fine Oak Trees. Most of these trees are no more but young oaks have been planted in their stead. Prior to widening the Naas Road a handsome gatehouse stood at the entrance. St Johns Rd Entrance and Car Park. This entrance was used by servants and workmen visiting Corkagh House, Clondalkin Dairies, Fairview Oil Mills and the Market Garden. The lakes here were created in 2000/1 following work on a drainage scheme for the river camac. Cross the blue bridge and watch Mallard ducks and shy black Moorhens with their bright red beaks. Near the bridge is another entrance from Cherrywood Estate. Fencing closes off a large part of the field beside the lakes.
