A blend of science, art and philosophy. A bit of motley heraldry. Jan 26th, 2010 at 10:14 PM. No sign of rank, nor painted shield,. Duke William bore on Hastings field,. But in a hauberk plainly dight. He looked like any other knight;. While from his pointed helm projected. A nose-piece that his face protected,. Revealing only cheeks and eyes -. A blend of science, art and philosophy. This time for sure! Mar 24th, 2010 at 10:51 AM. So a couple of years ago, the editor of Ars Caidis. Our local A&S publication) asked me for an article. I'd been doing considerable research for the Pictorial Dictionary, and I kept finding charges that had never been registered in the SCA. So I wrote up an article with about a dozen such charges, including their dates, sources, and emblazons (drawn by yours truly), and submitted it. 14 comments Leave a comment. If th...

Blatherings of a Mad Housewife. May 4th, 2010 at 3:23 PM. Yeah, I know, dangerous. Hush. There are a lot of pages over on facebook that a number of my friends have been "like"ing. Do I think people should be making a joke about praying for Obama's death? No I don't think it should have been done for Bush either- maybe praying that he got caught and had to pay for his lies, deceptions and things that I believed were treasonous, yes, but not his death. But people have the right to bad taste and low sen...

A blend of science, art and philosophy. Apr 27th, 2010 at 10:47 AM. I think I've recovered enough to write about this. save it for posterity, as it were. On an unrelated topic, I've been getting back into my morning runs, and was about to breach the plateau from 4.5 miles to 6 miles. Those of you into metrics will recall that 6.2 miles = 10 kilometers. An added spur, I admit.). And my God, how the money rolled in. I have some of the most generous friends on the planet. Seriously. Either that, or the ...

IT follies - Herveus rambles

IT follies - Herveus rambles. May 15th, 2012. Because of heightened security, passwords now expire in 30 days instead of 90. The system nags you about a soon to expire password for the last 14 days of the period. That means that either you change you password every two weeks to shut it up, or you have to affirmatively dismiss the warning, which, by the way, causes the authentication dialog to reappear in the browser. And that will be happening two weeks out of four. Brilliant. I should add that this won'...
