Thursday, January 20, 2011. Dear friends, family, and supporters of the PC Project (and especially those of you who are all three),. 1,500 in 15 days was a tall order, but we did it - with an extra $30 to spare! Then it was off to the races, as my family, Zack's family, JJ's family, volunteers past and present, friends, and even people I'd never met all donated. Students and professionals made donations ranging from $5 - $200, and it all added up to success. Friday, January 7, 2011. Fun Facts About Donors.

Saturday, October 30, 2010. Why should I let the toad work. Squat on my life? Can't I use my wit as a pitchfork. And drive the brute off? Friday, October 29, 2010. Two weeks before I'm registered to take the GRE Subject test in English Literature, I finally took a timed practice test. I did pretty okay. I haven't really been studying. So much as I've been watching "Supernatural" while making approximately 2 flashcards per hour, so I gotta say, it feels pretty good. Wednesday, October 27, 2010. And, okay,...

Monday, August 8, 2011. I left for Korea two years, one month, and four days ago today. It's time to close down my Korea blog, which recorded, complained about, and celebrated an important, precious, and finite two-year period. I like writing and blogging, and I hope to keep up with it in the next phase - my move to London for grad school. Thanks for being with me for these last two beautiful, difficult, complicated, wonderful years. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. 2 Ds and a B.

Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Chili Today, Hot Tamale. Home Plus has sharp cheddar again! Peppers, onions, a few cans of beans, tomatoes, spices, and lime juice later, and we've got vegetarian chili. I also bought a new pyrex baking dish- I'd been baking stuff in the roasting pan, but it's really way too big for two people, so I picked up a more reasonably-sized one. I made dessert in it tonight, and it makes an appearance in the chili picture. And - because why not? Pineapple upside-down cake ftw! It came...

Halfbright: Oh Alright, Go Ahead.
http://hafbright.blogspot.com/2011/06/oh-alright-go-ahead.html
Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Oh Alright, Go Ahead. So I'd prepped the second half of my Romeo and Juliet lesson, which involves video from Shakespeare in Love. And the 1968 and 1996 versions of Romeo and Juliet. Except then 20 minutes before class when I double-checked my flash drive, it freaked out and declared that not only was nothing on it, but also it was full. So I tried to borrow Roy's flash drive, but my computer helpfully gave me an error message in Korean. Fine, conspiratory universe - you win!

Thursday, May 26, 2011. Eleven Plays Written by Shakespeare, According to My Korean Sophomores. 1 Romeo and Juliet. 5 Summer Dream Night. 6 Shopkeeper from Venice. 9 "Training of.Something" or "Girl Training". Seriously, one girl from class 3 said Pericles. Coulda knocked me over with a feather. Also, I'd like to see "Girl Training," which I can only assume is a Korean "10 Things I Hate About You"-style update of Taming of the Shrew. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Halfbright: December 2010
http://hafbright.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 27, 2010. 3am and I'm wide awake. But there are some things that are pretty OK about this situation, because I'm at home. First of all, and my Korea brain very much appreciates this because it's pretty sure it's 1pm and lunchtime, the fridge is stocked and loaded. Snack? How about leftover mahi-mahi and lobster bisque? Pita chips or toasted bagel on the side? Or fresh mushroom ravioli? Hulu No proxy needed. Wednesday, December 22, 2010. So it came out like giant, really yummy nachos.

Wednesday, July 13, 2011. Thanks for the Grapes, Lunch Ladies! The super-cool lunch ladies at my school loaded me up with two bunches of leftover ginormous concord grapes as I was walking out of the cafeteria today. Thanks, ladies! I love Korean grapes! Saturday, July 9, 2011. No Egg, No Milk, No Mixer? I coudn't find anything online that used only those ingredients I have on hand, didn't require a mixer, and was scaled for a very small baking dish, so I tinkered with a few and gave it a shot. 3 wedges L...
