Plenum Studs

Recently I had to remove the air cleaner plenum for the first time. Unfortunately, when I tried to spin the plastic thumbscrews holding the plenum, they simply spun and did not release the plenum. I inserted a putty knife between the radiator shroud and the plenum and was able to hold the tang in place while I removed the thumb screws. You can see in the picture above the scratch mark left on the radiator shroud when the stud was spinning free. Notice that I turned the tang 180 from its normal positi...

1985 Corvette with stock (original) mufflers. The mufflers were still in pretty good shape but the finish was shot. Also, you can see from these pictures that the inner tail-pipes were non-functional. GM simply welded them on for looks. Pretty cheesy!

As you can see, unlike the later model Corvette's mine has no bumpers. Anyway, what it does have are a couple of rubber bumpers on the rear hatch window, rear trim:. It appears that General Motors currently has two types of air deflectors available for the early C4 (1984-90). Short, Non-Reinforced air deflectors (non-Z51 cars). Long, Reinforced air deflectors (Z51 cars). I assumed that my air deflector was probably original equipment and since it's an 85 and does not have the Z51 handling package, the air deflector was probably the short non-reinforced version. My air deflector was pretty badly scraped and the aluminum center support bracket was snapped in half.

Recently my vette sprang a coolant leak near the front of the intake manifold on the passenger side of the engine. During the disassembly of the TPI system, I decided that I wanted to replace all of the rubber O-rings. An email to Chris May at Superior Chevrolet yielded the following part numbers:. 17113544 - Injector Seals. 17111696 - O-Ring Kit. 22514722 - Fuel Inlet O-Ring. 22516256 - Fuel Inlet O-Ring.
