Photos and Thoughts of Kevin. August 2, 2015. June 24, 2016. Joan and I visited this location, kinda by accident. We were traveling Franklin Co, VA on August 2, 2015. We were on a road trip to see the sites mentioned in The Wettest County in the World. By Matt Bondurant. When visiting a Nation Monument for Booker T Washington. Which we also stumbled on, a staff member recommended the site. The photos that I took were with a Nikon D7200 and a rented AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II lens.

We came down Rt 116 from Roanoke, looking for Burnt Chimney and spotted the sign for the National Site. Is a nice 1-2 hour stop. The photos that I took were with a Nikon D7200 and a rented AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8G ED VR II lens.

We were on a road trip to see the sites mentioned in The Wettest County in the World. By Matt Bondurant, and found Peak Of Otter Lodge. On the web, and planned this to be the stop for the night so that we can enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway and the Sky Line Drive. Joan researched the area and picked a good trail to walk in the evening.

We took the Blue Ridge Parkway. And the Skyline Drive. I was amazed that the Parkway is free and the Skyline Drive cost $10 per person. The cost of the Skyline is not the surprise, just the prettier Blue Ridge Parkway was free. I recommend taking it when your in the area. Share on Google Plus. Bull Run Mountains Conservancy.
