Missionary Experience: April 2009
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2009_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 29, 2009. High for the Day. When I say high, I mean the temperature. Today we reached a new high in the classroom during one of our afternoon classes: 95 degrees, and if possible, it felt hotter, but maybe that's just the polyester talking. On the positive side, the pants I am wearing today are grey like the pants of our uniform, but are not, in fact, the pants of my uniform. So, they are made of a lighter material and not nearly as hot. Why did I buy these pants? Saturday, April 25, 2009.

Missionary Experience: January 2010
http://missionaryexperience1.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 19, 2010. And you all thought I was never going to post again. Well, the thought had crossed my mind. But then last night happened. I gave my first presentation about my experience in El Salvador! My dad scheduled me up to speak at the local Lions Club (of which he is a member) and I did last night. When I wrapped up at the end, every point I had intended to cover had been hit by their questions, and then some! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Every donation of any a...

Where We Plant the Seeds of Love. Honduras está cambiando – Honduras is changing. →. August 7, 2015 · 11:21 am. Revealing the “Other”. My experience at the VIDES formation camp was a formative one for me as I assisted the new volunteers in navigating that challenges and joys of ministering to the youth we served at our summer bible camp. The spirit of the campers was wonderful and was certainly set by those running it! The spirit of inclusion and acceptance of all was very evident by the volunteers and i...

Revealing the “Other”. Only the Beginning →. August 14, 2015 · 11:14 am. Honduras está cambiando – Honduras is changing. My name is Mary Joy Cunningham. I had the privilege and honor to work as a VIDES volunteer missioner with the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (FMA, Salesian Sisters) in their girls middle-high school in Santa Rosa de Copán, Honduras for one year. But how do you heal from deep within? They prepared, packaged, and sold organic potato and yucca chips throughout the city. The youth of...

Tuesday, June 30, 2009. Immigration - Part 394. I went to Immigration today, they had my coffee waiting for me just the way I like it. Okay, I don't go THAT often, but I think I can get a job there once I have my Visa because I'll know intimately how immigration works by then. After having my translated documents translated again and notarized by a lawyer (so happy we know someone at the lawyer's office, I didn't have to pay! Oh yeah, and the illegal time in El Salvador? 11 days = $114. Thanks to the...

Where We Plant the Seeds of Love →. August 6, 2015 · 10:51 am. This formation service camp was the first experience that I have done by myself. I did not know what was going to happen or what kind of people I would be with. Much to my surprise, it was really amazing! Giving my whole life to God is the best thing I can do with my life and VIDES is something I really want to share with others, so they can also enjoy this incredible experience. I am grateful for all God has done for me, especially this ...
