We were taken onto the Nicaraguan Lakes, the largest inland freshwater lake in Central America. It was a treat to go on a slow boat and be shown bird life, island life and monkeys on an island. Now we are a little more wise and want to share some of this information with you! 25% of Costa Rican land is now under state care and most of that is not accessible to us. There are three main types of forest. 1 Cloud Forest -Monteverde, where the altitude is higher and cooler. 2 Rainforest -San Ramon, where the altitude is lower and wetter.

What an experience! We learned how a community working together can do anything if they work as a team! They get up about 4am to have the breakfast ready for the family, then spend the day washing and cleaning, like many westerners. We are staying in Hotel Granada, with a fantastic pool, so idealic! Then Heiner had arranged for a local singer in full folklore costume, to come to give us a tour of the lovely city! She sang songs about the local town and would you believe it, she had 4 horse drawn carraiges ready to take us out and about! Mon – Sat.
