Saturday, September 17, 2011. Good to be home! This pretty much sums up our first 2 days back:. The Long Flight Home. Tiny room, but nice hotel room. Someone went WILD with the color in this hotel. Nice city. Too bad we didn't get to see any of it. We woke up groggy and tired, but hopped on the shuttle bus to the airport. Man, it was nice to get rid of 3 suitcases - a bad number to pull for us. Immigration / Customs in Chicago was interesting again. Last time it was Mason who wanted to go to the bath...

Friday, September 2, 2011. Today we started with a Hutong tour at the entrance to the Drum and Bell towers. The Drum and Bell towers were used long ago to tell the non-imperials what time it was. Instead of every hour, it was every two hours. The work day started at 5 am, and finished at 7 pm They used drums in the morning, and bells at night (or vica versa). We leave the hotel at 11:30am tomorrow, and fly to Kunming at about 2pm. Arrive 3 hours and 20 minutes later. We enjoyed the tour! Have a safe trip...

Apparently their special need was premature birth, but as the new parents said, 'they seem perfect to us.'. The girls were tiny and very cute. He said every year his dad would paint the ceilings white and repaint the pictures that we saw on the ceilings. Wednesday, September 7, 2011. Since our guide had never been to this orphanage before, we arrived at the outskirts of Qujing City to meet our escort and followed them. Not much longer we turned off the main road, took a few corners, passed through a large, open lot between two buildings, and then through the final gated fence.
