Another post as a response to something written by Jeremy Fox! Original argument by Dr. Fox. Correlation does not equal causation. Eg abundance in species over time. 2 species, abundances not correlated. Species abundances correlated with weather. Dr Fox’s conclusion: this is wrong. Correlation is not prediction of density dependence (example from economics).

Our field season has become increasingly busy over the last few weeks but I wanted to take some time to talk a little about two events we have had here in the last 10 days. EVENT 1: Research in Action Tour. My site was the first on the tour and it was great to be waiting there and all of a sudden have 2 buses and a convoy of vehicles show up! EVENT 2: 2nd Annual CNSC Science Olymp-a-thon. As you can see the competition gets pretty intense. The way things go.
