Cotton Picker Cooking: May 2009
http://cottonpickercooking.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html
Low fat vegan dishes. "The fat you eat is the fat you wear". - John McDougall, MD. Sunday, May 31, 2009. Bryanna's Persian Chickpea and Green Bean Stew. This is another simple but wonderful recipe from Bryanna Clark Grogan. It's from her cookbook "20 Minutes to Dinner." I got the recipe from a post Bryanna made on the Vegsource New Veggies board. I always serve this with brown rice. 1 onion, minced. 3-4 cloves garlic, minced. 1 tsp ground cumin. I use 2 and 1/2 cups frozen cut green beans). This ended up...
Cotton Picker Cooking: Curried Green Beans with Corn and Tomato

Low fat vegan dishes. "The fat you eat is the fat you wear". - John McDougall, MD. Friday, September 17, 2010. Curried Green Beans with Corn and Tomato. I may not have blogged here for over a year, but that doesn't mean I haven't been cooking. I have some Scarlet Runner beans in my garden that have grown really big - you know, tough and stringy. They wouldn't be nice steamed (which is what I usually do) so I had to find some other way to use them up. Curried Green Beans with Tomato and Corn. I always kee...
Cotton Picker Cooking: March 2009

Low fat vegan dishes. "The fat you eat is the fat you wear". - John McDougall, MD. Thursday, March 19, 2009. This is a favourite McDougall recipe that I have been making since August 2002, according to the notes in my cooking binder. It's from one of Dr McDougall's books (not sure which one). I have modified it very slightly according to my own taste and that's the version I will post here. This would be excellent over mashed potatoes or over whole wheat toast. 2 cups dried green lentils. 1 onion, chopped.

Low fat vegan dishes. "The fat you eat is the fat you wear". - John McDougall, MD. Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Bean, Tomato, and Butternut Squash Soup. I don't know where I got this recipe. I usually make a notation in my recipe binder but this time I didn't. Anyway, I will post it with my modifications. Makes 4 to 6 servings. 1 onion, finely chopped. 1 celery stalk, finely chopped. 4 garlic cloves, minced. 2 cups veggie broth and 2 cups water. 3 cups cooked pinto beans (or 2-15oz canned beans). McDoug...

Cheery Tomato Productions: November 2010
http://cheerytomatoproductions.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 29, 2010. When I see some idea, several times in quick succession, I know that I'm supposed to try it out. At least three times in the last couple of weeks, I've read about the idea of making a collection of words - going through old books or dictionary pages or what have you, and gathering the ones that attract your attention. Every person I've read gives credit to Susan Wooldridge and her book Poemcrazy. For the idea. Liz Lamoreux. Talks about it in her new book, Inner Excavation.

Monday, September 27, 2010. A journal page today. I'm not much of an art journaler. I'm more of a writer and a list maker and a creator of diagrams (when I'm figuring out how to make something). But I do like to pull out the journal to mess around occasionally. Today I read a blog post by Diana Trout,. Author of Journal Spilling. Too, where people can posts their responses to her nudges. Not me, especially when I knew I had a whole desk drawer of files from the previous person in my job that I still.

Monday, June 20, 2011. A bird in the hand. The spring banner is still slowly unfolding - even though the summer solstice is almost here . . . Adding a few more birds seems like a fun idea, but I've struggled with how. Tonight, I finally put all the pieces together. Now I can create a few more birds, and then assemble the flock to finish the banner! Friday, June 10, 2011. I have not given up on finishing the spring banner - even though it is months late and summer will be here soon. (It's still quite ...

Cheery Tomato Productions: Journaling with Teesha
http://cheerytomatoproductions.blogspot.com/2011/07/journaling-with-teesha.html
Sunday, July 17, 2011. I had the privilege of taking a visual journaling workshop with Teesha Moore this weekend - right here in Spokane! We made simple journals from large sheets of watercolor paper and started collaging, drawing, doodling, and writing. Teesha makes her pages very full and lively, and she challenges her students to do the same. I've gotten the furthest on this page. It has a long way to go, but I'm happy with my progress so far. . . . Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 7:56:00 AM PST. Liz Ela...

Cheery Tomato Productions: October 2011
http://cheerytomatoproductions.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Saturday, October 1, 2011. Hello, and goodbye. I am here to say: this is goodbye, for now. I aspire to be a more joyful Judy. So I guess it's fitting that I finally finished the "spring" banner that says "JOY", and that it graces my last blog post. I'll leave this blog up, because it's got some ideas that people may want to explore. Maybe I'll start another blog next year, on a very different topic. Or not. Everything changes, and I'm open to the possibilities. Thank you, and namaste. Hello, and goodbye.

Cheery Tomato Productions: April 2011
http://cheerytomatoproductions.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 24, 2011. Light still dwells in you. This I know to be true:. Even when the darkness seems to swallow you whole -. When you can't smile. You can't get out of bed. And pain grabs your body. Light still dwells in you. You may not see it because you have your eyes screwed shut. Fiercely squeezing out everything you fear. But I know it glows inside you. Nothing in the universe can extinguish your light. Fog and night may hide it. But it burns within you. Tuesday, April 19, 2011. I laughed a lot...

Cheery Tomato Productions: December 2010
http://cheerytomatoproductions.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 31, 2010. Scarves for the new year. I've taken some time this week to wrap up a couple of projects. The first project is a scarf that I began crocheting while on vacation in Michigan this summer. I bought a gorgeous hand-dyed wool and started working right away. On the flight home, however, I realized that I wouldn't have enough yarn to make the scarf as long as I like. I looked through my yarn stash, and found a cotton/poly 2-ply with almost the exact same color scheme! Want to see the ...

Sunday, February 27, 2011. Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Have you ever seen the work of Daniella Woolf? She was featured in Somerset Studio. Last year; I immediately fell in love with her works of paper, often constructed with shredded "morning pages." Writing morning pages is a technique in Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way:. Three pages of longhand, stream of consciousness writing, done first thing in the morning.". Pour it out onto the pages without censoring and without stopping, and you'll find out.
