The Capitol Classic is a single day ride on May 1, 2016 that is a great warm up for the Cottonwood. Riders can journey from the present capitol in Topeka to the territorial capitol in Lecompton. Get more information and register at www.kvbc.org. 2016 Registration is OPEN! December 29th, 2015. It’s almost time for the Cottonwood 200! May 11th, 2015. In 1976, a hearty group of cyclists from the Kaw Valley Bicycle Club searched for a way. To celebrate the nation’s 200th birthday. Looking at their maps, they realized a round trip from Topeka to Cottonwood Falls, Kansas would be 200 miles, and cover some of the best cycling terrain in the state.
