Floods Cause More Misery. Friday, Oct 2 2009. Treforest was badly hit by floods again in June as torrential rain saw Ponty virtually cut off in places. Councillor John Bell has been pressing the University for action for the past year. 8220;There has been a problem for some considerable time with people cutting through from the University Car Park and the Railway Station and using Saron Street as a short cut into Treforest. Rumours Put To Rest. Friday, Oct 2 2009. Representatives of the University of Glamorgan kindly agreed to put themselves in the firing line and attend a public meeting for residents on 21st July arranged by Cllr John Bell. The problems with flooding were obviously high on the agenda, and both the University and John will be following up on some of the suggestions. There will be no bar located in the new building. The University are not looking to buy up houses in the area for any reason.
