When the first (of three) splash of water poured over her head, Zoe looked at me with the most intent, knowing, gentle stare, as if to say, "It's happening. You said it would.and now it is. I trust you completely." And so it that God - once again - can be trusted to do and to be what God has always promised. Why do we covenant with you to do all of this for you? And its a gir.

We cannot pry our eyes away from your gaze, your amazement at the little things, your enjoyment of your everyday. As we long to teach you, teach us. As we learn to trust you, trust us. As we ache with love for you, know this: we could not love you more. And then there is tomorrow. Thank you for that, sweet, little Zoe Fiona. Jonathan E. Carroll.

Saturday, October 07, 2006. These recent photographs tell a story that no wordsmith, no poet, no songwriter can. Zoe - now five-and-a-half months old - is curious, attentive, and so very responsive. She loves to watch and listen, then laugh. She is a child of wonder, awe-filled, and precious. Her dimples, her sweet toothless gums, and her eyes (those eyes! Monday, June 25, 2007. A THOUSAND FORMS OF FROLIC. During the first week of June, while Jonathan was away studying, Kendra and Zoe Fiona visited Grandma and Grandpa (and Aunt Jenny) in St. Augustine, Florida. When the time had fully come, there was heard a call from the sandy shore of a nearby beach, "Come! And so they did. And she laughed, and played, and, remembered, we pray. If not, we will remember for her, even now. The embodiment of God's own merry, cheerful self. Jonathan E. Carroll. And its a gir.

We remember often the wonderful story in the Hebrew Bible where God - in God's own mysterious way - visits Abraham and Sarah and promises that - though they be old as the hills - they will conceive and bear a son. Abraham fell on the floor in laughter, and Sarah - hiding behind the tent door - laughed on the inside. "No I didn't," she argued before God. "Yes, you did! God replied. And the two wrinkled souls were given a son, and his name was Isaac, which means "laughter.". We are l...

On April 24, 2006, our waiting gave way to something new, and at 5:05pm, we saw for the first time our sweet baby girl, Zoe Fiona. It started on a "routine" Monday morning while at our routine doctor's visit. Upon examination, Kendra's OB said, "It's happening, and you're not going home. You're gonna have your baby today! It was grace to watch as this...
