Jolene: The Country Music Blog: Sunfest Country Music Festival, BC, Canada

Jolene: The Country Music Blog. Monday, July 27, 2015. Sunfest Country Music Festival, BC, Canada. Many moons ago I lived in Vancouver, BC for a year and spent my spare time volunteering at CiTR, the radio station of the University of British Columbia. There, I discovered the rich and varied Canadian indie music scene. More generally, I came to appreciate the passion Canadians have for their culture, and the skills that were on display in their storytelling and music. The line-up includes: Keith Urban.

Jolene: The Country Music Blog. Friday, June 19, 2015. Chris Cavill and The Prospectors on tour. Melburnians Chris Cavill and The Prospectors are taking their sound north to Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane before returning to their hometown. Their album, Know Your Destiny. Suggests that the shows will be a real treat, and I spoke to Chris about the formation of the band and his musical background, plus their new single, 'Midnight Train'. Does that mean that your rehearsal space is always a harmonious one?

Jolene: The Country Music Blog: December 2014
http://jolenethecountrymusicblog.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Jolene: The Country Music Blog. Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Hailing from the Central Coast of New South Wales - which is now a productive creative hub for country music artists - Sarah Humphreys has released her third album, New Moon. Which is a glorious collection of songs, experiences and moods. Recently I spoke to Sarah, who was delightful, honest and inspiring. I did, yes, it’s always been a very natural thing for me. A lot of people can talk themselves out of trusting that though, so even for it to ...

Jolene: The Country Music Blog: Album review: Amos v Ann by Bek-Jean Stewart
http://jolenethecountrymusicblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/album-review-amos-v-ann-by-bek-jean.html
Jolene: The Country Music Blog. Tuesday, July 28, 2015. Album review: Amos v Ann by Bek-Jean Stewart. This is a review, though, not a paean, so I need to try to bring in some reason here - to at least attempt to explain the experience of listening to this album. I had read Stewart's bio before I listened to Amos v Ann. My first thought - once I could have a thought - was: Why on earth haven't I been listening to her already? She is clearly an incredibly accomplished songsmith as well as singer. EP review...

Jolene: The Country Music Blog. Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Album review: Be Here Now by Alison Ferrier. London-born Melburnian Alison Ferrier has a pedigreed alt-country career as a member of the now-defunct The Wayward Fairies and the still extant Ravenswood; she also plays fiddle and sings with other artists in her home town. On her new album, Be Here Now. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). ABC Country Radio (online). Tamworth Country Music Festival info. Listen to country music online. Christopher Col...

Jolene: The Country Music Blog: EP review: Save Me by Leah Briggs
http://jolenethecountrymusicblog.blogspot.com/2015/07/ep-review-save-me-by-leah-briggs.html
Jolene: The Country Music Blog. Friday, July 3, 2015. EP review: Save Me by Leah Briggs. South Australian singer-songwriter has one of those voices - you know. The song that has most lingered for me is 'Throw Away the Past'. Not all of the lyrics are easy to hear - 'Lessons of Life' sounds like it's formed during a tough time - but Briggs's voice makes them accessible and very much worth your time. By Leah Briggs is out now. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). ABC Country Radio (online). Hat fitz and cara.
