Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures: Not ready for prime time Nicaragua
http://zoesadventure.blogspot.com/2007/08/not-ready-for-prime-time-nicaragua.html
Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures. Friday, August 10, 2007. Not ready for prime time Nicaragua. Thanks to all those who have commented. I feel so “followed! This is a hard one for me folks. So bear with me as I make my way through this post. Here’s the thing about Nicaragua. I laughed, I cried, I laughed until I cried. I burned, I composted, I scratched. It was unbelievable, but here goes. Boat ride, wildlife, and a city tour. Sounded great! After lunch we took a two hour hike through the property o...

Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures: It’s a Nature Wonderland and Theme Park!
http://zoesadventure.blogspot.com/2007/08/its-nature-wonderland-and-theme-park.html
Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures. Saturday, August 4, 2007. It’s a Nature Wonderland and Theme Park! Costa Rica, home of ecotourism, rain forest, volcanoes, cloud forest and unremarkable food. And our home away from ship for the last few days. Said hiked) to an area where we could see down into the crater. We had a surprisingly clear day for it and that allowed us to see the small sulphuric eruption that is featured in the photo. And there were a somewhat disturbing number of macaws who were not in...

Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures: August 2007
http://zoesadventure.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html
Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures. Friday, August 24, 2007. Back by popular demand. OK, so I was going to leave off with Guatemala but it seems there's interest in the rest of the journey that followed, so I guess I'll go ahead and fill you all in. After Guatemala (and my ankle the size of a freaking cantaloupe), I took it easy for a day or so. That wasn't hard to do as I had a decent book (Time Traveler's Wife, OMG I *loved* it! Despite being up until about 1 am, we still managed to wake the next m...

Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures: June 2007
http://zoesadventure.blogspot.com/2007_06_01_archive.html
Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures. Friday, June 29, 2007. Right now we’re anchored in the bay near the port of Balboa, Panama. Apparently we can’t get a berth in Balboa, so we’re stuck here at anchor and will have to take the tender boats into port. We have a trip headed to the Gamboa Rainforest this afternoon. We have to get onto a tender by about 12:45 in order to make it on time to the trip. It’s 11:30 right now and they’re trying to get a normal schedule established for us. Dinner with the capta...

Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures. Sunday, July 29, 2007. Peru – Where tourism, history, and hippies collide. First up, let me just say that I hear I have a following out there. Where do I hear this from? Ricardo’s blog. Um, hello out there? Where is the love? I only ever get posts from Leslie (thanks Leslie! And Elena and my mom. Katy? I have all kinds of pictures of Ricardo…. Let’s begin with the journey. Trip planning was a difficult process for this leg. First off, it’s the. We hadn’t show...

Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures: May 2007
http://zoesadventure.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html
Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures. Friday, May 25, 2007. Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow creeps in this petty pace. From South Park to Shakespeare. How diverse, eh? I have 7 1/2 days of school left. And 17 days until we leave. These numbers are deceptive though. Because the number of school days is only. School days. And the number of pre-boat days include weekends. And yet despite this, I feel like there is hardly enough time to get everything done before we leave. And yet despite that. Ricardo ...

Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures: Guatebueno
http://zoesadventure.blogspot.com/2007/08/guatebueno.html
Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures. Friday, August 17, 2007. It’s completely impossible to wrap my brain around the idea that this Guatemala was our last port. In some ways it feels like we’ve been traveling forever and in other ways it seems like the summer jut began and we left home yesterday. In he last 10 weeks we’ve been in 8 countries. It’s mind-boggling. We started with a trip to Chichicastenango, which to this day remains the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Despite the rather h...The chu...

Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures: April 2007
http://zoesadventure.blogspot.com/2007_04_01_archive.html
Zoë's Most Excellent Summer Adventures. Thursday, April 26, 2007. Today Ricardo arranged our hotels in Guatemala. When I went through an online travel site, Enjoy Guatemala, the price for the hotel room was $120/night with breakfast included. When Ricardo called the hotel directly to reserve a room it was $125/night without breakfast. WTF? I do not get this. But I live with it. Friday, April 20, 2007. If you can avoid Typhoid Fever vaccines, I highly. Recommend it. It's painful and nasty. It did in India.
