Tuesday, February 12, 2008. Tuesday February 12, 2008. The hanging of our presentation in the "No Exit Gallery" went fairly well. There were concerns about which colors should go next to others, horizontals hanging next to verticals, and which compositions looked best next to each other. Considering the range of different styles, the arrangements made were suitable. Courtney's was unfinished, but really yellow. Sunday, April 24, 2011. Every now and then, you get so caught up in the work you're making that you lose sight of how to be creative. I've been feeling stuck lately so I thought I would unwind and relax a bit. I bought a how-to book on cartoon animals and another on kodomo (kawaii) cartoons. Monday, June 20, 2011. More of the new paintings. So this is a big deal for me - these are honestly the first paintings that I would feel comfortable hanging in a gallery. They are full of technical imperfections, but they aren't as noticeable as with previous paintings. They aren't truly finished, but I feel really good about these pieces, and it's given me some much needed motivation and confidence to continue doing what I love. Saturday, June 11, 2011. Now I'm back at my desk, and I'm going to try something I've never done before: two paintings at one time. My teachers in college always recommended it, but I never took their advice.
