Okie in the Bluegrass: Mally Quack Quack - The Story of an Orphan Duck

Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Mally Quack Quack - The Story of an Orphan Duck. What do you do with a duckling that has hatched but it's mama was eaten by a fox two days prior? Why you bring it into the fold. MQQ only an hour old. MQQ only a couple of days old. The only room in my house that I can close off is the bathroom, so Mally Quack Quack is now residing in my bathtub. I remember from previous ducklings how messy they get and the tub cleans up quickly. This is how Mally Quack Quack came to liv...She w...
Okie in the Bluegrass: Who Am I?
http://courtneysaywhat.blogspot.com/p/who-am-i.html
Just a gal from the heart of Oklahoma who has made her way to Kentucky. I love horses, farm life, gardening, my dogs, and sitting in my hammock enjoying the breeze. By day I am the unmasked, but caped hero of nationally recognized horseshows. At least in my mind. I love exploring the Bluegrass state; trying new things, seeing new sights and meeting interesting people. I came to Kentucky because I am a horse person, and I am staying because there are more than just horses here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
Okie in the Bluegrass: May 2012
http://courtneysaywhat.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Maggie nursing her puppies. Maggie and pups settled right in. My two dogs, Willow and Denny, enjoyed having visitors. Willow was immensely curious about the little squirming beings. Denny just wanted to play with Maggie, and she was more than willing. My cats weren't thrilled about the new additions, so they decided they would stay outside until the puppies departed. Charlotte - 11 wks old. Scooby - 11 wks old. Luke - 11 wks old. Okie in the Bluegrass: March 2012
http://courtneysaywhat.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Thursday, March 22, 2012. Last night while doing the evening farm chores, the dogs and I came across a pigeon that didn't fly away. My first thought was that Denny was going to devour it, being dinner time and all, but he didn't. Denny put his new herding training into practice and pushed the pigeon into a corner. The bird tried to fly but it couldn't seem to take off. Not the smartest thing I've ever done, unfortunately not the dumbest either. Wish I could tell if it is a he or a she. I bedded one of my...
Okie in the Bluegrass: Beauty
http://courtneysaywhat.blogspot.com/2013/04/beauty.html
Sunday, April 7, 2013. I've decided I want to showcase how wonderful my sister is with words. She paints a picture with her words. And when I ran across another one of her poems I had to post it. I can't help but be proud of her! Her inspiration for Beauty was a single pink rose. Pretty is a small word. Describing how I look. It’s something like a photo. A picture in a book. There’s so much more to me. Than what the eyes perceive. It’s not about my face,. But more what I believe. I don’t easily wilt.

Courtney's Adventure in Gardening: Catnip...gone
http://courtneysgardengnome.blogspot.com/2011/06/catnipgone.html
Okie in the Bluegrass. Tending to my garden and my life; nurturing each day to see what unfolds. Thursday, June 2, 2011. That catnip that I told you I had growing.well, its been stripped of its leaves. It seems, surprise.surprise, that my three cats like it. I planted it for them, but not for them to devour now. I wanted to be all resourceful and dry it to put in their toys. Sheesh There goes that plan! Next time I will put it where they can't get it. I wonder where that is? Subscribe To the Adventure.

Okie in the Bluegrass. Tending to my garden and my life; nurturing each day to see what unfolds. Thursday, March 24, 2011. The dogwoods at my new house are blooming. Okie in the Bluegrass. Tending to my garden and my life; nurturing each day to see what unfolds. Monday, May 30, 2011. My Lil Herb Garden. I'm growing herbs and they're not dead! I've never had much luck growing herbs, both in pots and in the garden. The one herb that did grow well for me was lavender, and that was only after a few attempts. It loved it there and thrived. Everytime I walked down that path I was surrounded by the soft scent of lavender. Now someone else is enjoying it. Well, I do. Subscri...

Okie in the Bluegrass. Tending to my garden and my life; nurturing each day to see what unfolds. Thursday, August 13, 2009. This morning I woke to a gloriously cool morning, though still a bit muggy. There was no surprise when I encountered dense fog when I headed to the car. The fog was beautiful and gave the earth an eerie feel, making me want to turn the car around and go back home. I could work from home? Unlike the morning glories this sunflower wasn't too thrilled at the lack of sun. Nope, looks li...

Okie in the Bluegrass. Tending to my garden and my life; nurturing each day to see what unfolds. Wednesday, April 27, 2011. The Ark is Built. We have had so much rain that I have built my ark and I'm ready to go. Thunderstorms keep knocking us around here in the bluegrass, so much so that my nerves are on the verge. Being from Oklahoma I am used to intense thunderstorms and tornadic activity. But these last few weeks have put all that experience to shame. I am living on borrowed time. My old garden would...
