Covering UNC's Student Representative Council

Covering UNC's Student Representative Council. Thursday, 16 April 2009. My UNC Journalism Experience. I have been a student in UNC's journalism program for a year and a half, and have fully enjoyed all my classes associated with the program. The only thing I have ever been disappointed in is that they cap the number of hours journalism students can take of JMC credits. I took six of my journalism credits overseas in a study abroad program through The University of Southern Mississippi. For this beat, I c...

Covering UNC's Student Representative Council: A Day in the Student Trustee's Shoes

http://coveringuncssrc.blogspot.com/2009/04/day-in-student-trustees-shoes.html

Covering UNC's Student Representative Council. Wednesday, 1 April 2009. A Day in the Student Trustee's Shoes. I wrote my day in the life piece about the SRC Student Trustee, Bob Vincent. Vincent advises the Board of Trustees as to what SRC is doing. I struggled with two things on this piece. On they day I shadowed him, we attended the Board of Trustees meeting, and I really struggled to pay attention. I overcame this by focusing on detail gathering. When did he look at his watch? How is he sitting?

Covering UNC's Student Representative Council: Student Fee Allocation Process

http://coveringuncssrc.blogspot.com/2009/03/student-fee-allocation-process.html

Covering UNC's Student Representative Council. Saturday, 28 March 2009. Student Fee Allocation Process. The weather outside may have frozen over, but in SRC, things are just starting to heat up. What is making things really hot right now though are the heated debates about the Student Fee Allocation Process, known not-so-lovingly as SFAP to anyone who has sat through these meetings. SFAP distributes student fees to other organizations such as, but not limited to, the University Programming Council. Stude...

Covering UNC's Student Representative Council: Elections

http://coveringuncssrc.blogspot.com/2009/04/elections.html

Covering UNC's Student Representative Council. Tuesday, 14 April 2009. UNC students might not be as bombarded by political advertisements as they would for US presidential elections, but SRC elections are in full swing. Polls open at 7 am April 15 and close 8 pm April 16. To vote, simply log into your URSA. Account in a campus computer lab. There are 16 candidates for nine positions. Three people are running unopposed. A complete list of candidates. Can be found on SRC's web site. Posted by Sarah Tee.

Covering UNC's Student Representative Council: SRC's Budget: Up for Debate

http://coveringuncssrc.blogspot.com/2009/04/srcs-budget-up-for-debate.html

Covering UNC's Student Representative Council. Thursday, 2 April 2009. SRC's Budget: Up for Debate. SRC discussed ways to tighten their budget in last night's meeting. Last week, student at large Spencer Worley proposed zero funding for SRC. Although they general feeling among the council was against this, they did discuss budget cuts this week. They looked at ways to clean up their budget and reallocate funds from the vice president's budgets and other programs funded by SRC, such as off-campus housing.

Tuesday, March 10, 2009. So far in JMC 410. So far in my Advanced News and Feature Writing class ( JMC. We have completed two articles. The first assignment was to write a profile story on someone relevant to our beat. Covering a snowboarding beat, I chose to write mine on Nate Giska. Student, snowboarder, and entrepreneur. Northern Colorado Snowboarding: A Snowboarder Profile

http://nocosnowboarding.blogspot.com/2009/03/snowboarder-profile.html

Thursday, March 12, 2009. As I mentioned in my last post, I recently wrote a profile on snowboarder Nate Giska. Class, Advanced News and Feature Writing. I had a lot of fun writing this story, I love to learn new things about snowboarding and meet cool people. . Which is now one of the most active clubs on campus. A junior Business Management major, Nate is putting his education to work even before graduating and opening up Blacklist Boardshop. A skate/snowboard shop right here in Greeley, CO. . For this...

Northern Colorado Snowboarding: A Day in the Life

http://nocosnowboarding.blogspot.com/2009/03/day-in-life.html

Tuesday, March 31, 2009. A Day in the Life. Continuing with my snowboarding beat, I recently wrote a "Day in the Life" story about Winter Park Resort. I spent Saturday, Feb. 28 at Winter Park meeting new people, observing, taking notes and of course, I couldn't resist doing a little riding of my own. It was a great day to be in the mountains -a fresh dusting of powder and sunshine all day. That weekend also happened to be the 34th annual Wells Fargo Cup. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I am a senior ...

Northern Colorado Snowboarding: JMC at UNC

http://nocosnowboarding.blogspot.com/2009/04/jmc-at-unc.html

Thursday, April 16, 2009. Less than a month away from graduation, and I feel like I'm just finally getting into my education. I've spent the last four years at the University of Northern Colorado studying to get a degree in Journalism and Mass Communications. . When I look back at the time I spent here, though, I can't help but wonder how much of that time was actually put to good use. . I know that those gen-ed courses served some purpose. I'm just failing to see what it was. I cant help but fee...We ha...
