Some thoughts on life, music, movies, books, whatever. Tuesday, April 11, 2006. A little update on the last post, Alex has posted the picture, along with his version of what happened here. Apparently we were the "best part of all"! Anyway, check out the picture and marvel at my "roughly the size of a houseboat" pregnant self. At least I look pregnant now and not just like working at home = eating lots of bonbons. Posted by Maryanne @ 11:15 AM. Http:/ gashaponshop.net/main.html. View my complete profile.

Some thoughts on life, music, movies, books, whatever. Sunday, April 16, 2006. File this one under: Where do I live anyway? His buzzard-y friend was the huge bird I'd seen earlier, but this one wasn't about to be scared away from its meal. I had no idea buzzards lived in the city areas. Do they, or do they have some kind of radar when some animal dies that tells them it's time to visit the city for some food? Posted by Maryanne @ 7:36 PM. Tuesday, April 11, 2006. Apparently we were the "best part of all"!

Some thoughts on life, music, movies, books, whatever. Wednesday, March 08, 2006. For those of you keeping track, I just got the results of my 3 hour glucose test. Not quite jackpot, regardless of how you're defining jackpot. I have glucose intolerance, which means I need to be a nicer person and not discriminate against the poor glucose. In the meantime, I resolve not to be intolerant of glucose any more. Posted by Maryanne @ 4:52 PM. Down with glucose intolerance! View my complete profile. A new year, ...

Some thoughts on life, music, movies, books, whatever. Tuesday, March 28, 2006. So what am I eating? Overall I've been doing pretty well and have only messed up a couple of times. (And a couple of those were blatant and on purpose. I'm a rebel! Posted by Maryanne @ 1:33 PM. Yeah, I love hearing these stories. Thanks Maryanne. So, is it processed sugar you have to stay clear of, or all sugars. Can you eat fresh fruit? Can you eat things cooked with coconut milk? Oh, poor dearie. Special K sound yummy!

http://www.coversongs.blogspot.com/2006/02/i-was-really-going-to-be-somebody-by.html

Some thoughts on life, music, movies, books, whatever. Friday, February 10, 2006. I was really going to be somebody by the time I was 23.". In a little over a month I'll be turning 30. That fact, in and of itself, doesn't really bother me all that much. I've gotten to the point where I realize that for the most part age doesn't really matter all that much, as is evidenced by the fact that I really have no idea how old most of my friends are, and don't know how old I am most of the time. Planned and pulle...

100 Books: April 2004

http://lilmaryanne.blogspot.com/2004_04_01_archive.html

My thoughts on the books I'm currently reading. Monday, April 19, 2004. I finished Eats, Shoots and Leaves. And it did not dissapoint. I'm recommending it to almost everyone I know. It does have me rabidly watching my usage of commas for instances that they should be semi-colons, and my apostrophes are under constant surveillance, but I don't know that that's a bad thing. I'm currently reading From the Dust Returned. Posted by Maryanne @ 4/19/2004 11:37:00 AM. Tuesday, April 13, 2004. But I can't really ...

Since my last post I've read 4 1/2 books, 2 by the hasn't failed me yet Miss Agatha Christie- Taken by the Flood. Which had a slow beginning but turned out quite well, and Witness for the Prosecution. They sent an ecclectic, but not as random as it could be selection of books, and I began with Rebecca. My thoughts on the books I'm currently reading. Sunday, April 30, 2006. I started reading Where the Truth Lies. By Rupert Holmes, then put it down when my Amazon shipment came containing the much anticipated Cocaine Blues. By Kerry Greenwood, and then, miracle of miracles, I did not move on to another book, but picked up Where the Truth Lies. By Martin Amis, because I saw his books at the library and realised I'd never read anything of his, and that seemed wrong somehow. The book is good so far, it w...

My thoughts on the books I'm currently reading. Friday, January 23, 2004. So I'm through with the book paralysis- I think. I read 2 books yesterday, so thats a pretty good indicator. My thoughts on the books I'm currently reading. Monday, April 10, 2006. I'm behind again. Luckily the books I've been reading lately haven't been too deep. To catch up: Swing. And The Winter Garden Mystery. By Ellison and The Sound and the Fury. By Faulkner because I just couldn't focus on them. And I have the feeling that The Sound and the Fury. My thoughts on the books I'm currently reading. Sunday, May 07, 2006. It's time to play catch up again. The Rachel Papers. A little Lance Scott from The Everlasting. By Oscar Wilde: I wasn't feeling good the other night, so decided to read one of my favorite plays. It's witty, funny, poignant, and I love it. My thoughts on the books I'm currently reading. Wednesday, March 08, 2006. More catching up to do. The Letters of Nancy Mitford and Evelyn Waugh. Was delightful. There were some interesting insights into the writing process, some great historical context realizations for me, and over all I highly enjoyed it. The Everlasting. By Amanda Vaill, a biography of Gerald and Sara Murphy, the couple on which Fitzgerald's Dick and Nicole Diver in Tender is the Night. Posted by Maryanne @ 3/08/2006 08:56:00 PM.

My thoughts on the books I'm currently reading. Friday, February 10, 2006. So I'll just say that I reread it. It was good. I picked The Castle of Otronto. What is it that makes it so hard to get rid of books? What purpose do they serve, literally and symbolically? It really is a thought provoking book, and one that will be sticking in my mind for a long time to come. I mentioned a short story by Aimee Bender not too many posts ago, and when I saw her latest short story collection, Willful Creatures.

Under the Covers › On Reproductions, Renovations, and Revivals

On Reproductions, Renovations, and Revivals. I Go To Sleep. Monday, June 13, 2011. I forget how the conversation started, but a friend remarked that he found an interesting Pretenders cover of the Sia song I Go To Sleep. Unfortunately, he got things a bit inside-out. While the Sia version is incredible, it’s not original to her. And, no, it wasn’t a Pretenders original either, although they are known for the song and Chrissy Hynds’ vocals on that version are stunning. With several fairly unremarkable rem...
