All our bags are packed, we’re ready to go | cabutlari

Outstation until we get home. All our bags are packed, we’re ready to go. Three hours until we get on the plane home (via a 1 hour stop in Baku and a 1 night stop in Doha). Couldn’t be more excited. We’ve been counting the days, which seem to go by extra slow now. Tbilisi’s pretty cool, though we didn’t do much, just lazed around the comfortable verandah of the Skadaveli Guest House. Top three observations on Tbilisi:. 1 There are a lot of cheap delicious fruits (tiny pears, peaches, cherries, etc.).

merdeka eve | a mrs. in malaysia
https://muminmalaysia.wordpress.com/2010/08/30/merdeka-eve
A mrs in malaysia. An expat mum soaks in the city. August 30, 2010 / maidinmalaysia. And my five year old can sing Negaraku. I remain an expat, and an outsider — listening to the tune, chiming in whenever he sings the words “raja kita” (those are the easiest for me to remember.). But my India-born son , who went to his first school here in KL … can draw and colour the malaysian flag, can scream merdeka! And can sing the entire national anthem. Larr; give time a break. Wassup Nat?: March 2012
http://wassupnat.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Sunday, 4 March 2012. Been to the Auckland Museum during my trip to New Zealand last year. Its a pretty good museum with lots of displays from natural history to Maori culture and a war memorial (huh, NZ in war? Not quite, but they sent their people to join the British, duh). And in that museum, I've come across the most disgusting display I've ever seen! Its around the natural history galleries, in the section called " Weird and Wonderful. There is a tank. well, let the picture speak for itself.

The Big Breakfast | cabutlari
https://cabutlari.wordpress.com/2012/07/01/the-big-breakfast
Outstation until we get home. The train was scheduled to arrive in Kashuri at 4.49am. We were up much earlier to keep an eye out for our stop. Just how we would recognise our stop, we weren’t actually sure, as the station signs were all in Georgian. But it turned out that there was no need to worry after all, as the train attendant was kind enough to wake up from his sleep to alert us as the train pulled into the station. We reached Leo’s Homestay. There are two types to choose from: cold river water (ab...

Wassup Nat?: September 2013
http://wassupnat.blogspot.com/2013_09_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 24 September 2013. Common scene in Bangkok. One of the things that I noticed about Thailand is the amount of electrical wires everywhere. Hanging overhead, some buzzing with that electrical sound and some low hanging ones. One needs to watch out when crossing a pedestrian bridge or your head might get caught in the web of cables! It just made me feel more grateful for the small things we take for granted in KL. You don't see this scene very often anymore. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). End Nov = KL.

give time a break | a mrs. in malaysia
https://muminmalaysia.wordpress.com/2010/01/03/give-time-a-break
A mrs in malaysia. An expat mum soaks in the city. January 3, 2010 / maidinmalaysia. Give time a break. Father and son enjoy the beach and the togetherness. At 99 Rm Manikar Beach Resort is a steal. In Labuan, we first stayed at Hotel Victoria, which is at the heart of the city. But cramped, with a tiny bathroom and a view of a noisy construction. It doesn’t feel like a holiday. Still it fit into our Rm 99 a day budget, and we spent a night there. Rm 99, said the receptionist. We’ll take it. We had a cha...

Wassup Nat?: February 2011
http://wassupnat.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 23 February 2011. Remembering those who fell in Kanchanaburi. A recent trip to Kanchanaburi was for a workshop, but we had time off one evening to go to the museum, the cemetery and the popular bridge (i.e. bridge over the River Kwai – also a movie). During World War II, the Japanese invaded South East Asia and brought many POWs to Kanchanaburi to build a railroad that joins Thailand to Myanmar. There was about 180,000 Asian POWs (most from Malaysia! Sunday, 6 February 2011. End Nov = KL.
