Oh, you mean *those* Martins? The Seven Signposts of Spring. We recently passed the first calendar day of Spring but I know it’s not really Spring yet. Given Wisconsin’s weather, I have my own criteria for when Spring actually begins. When we hear birdsong and see squirrels. When the snow begins to melt in earnest. When there is no ice left anywhere on our driveway. When I can walk from the front street to the back commons area without walking through snow. When we see leaf buds on the trees.

Oh, you mean *those* Martins? February 15th, 8:24pm. 6 pounds, 4 ounces. 18 and 1/2 inches. Mom and Dad couldn’t decide whether to name me Esther Grace or Esther Kaylee. Then I cried all night (instead of sleeping like the doctors said I would). Mom and Dad decided that I wasn’t acting very graceful and decided to name me Kaylee. A friend of mine, a homeschool mom, just passed away of cancer. In the week before she died, I asked her if she had any regrets in her life.
