My name is Jessica Yu. I am a recent Computer Science graduate from UC Berkeley. I'm a fledgling systems hacker, a former Unix sysadmin at Residential Computing. Intern. Last summer I hacked on the 9atom. Kernel (a fork of Plan 9) under the Google Summer of Code. Program, improving the process scheduler to run more efficiently on SMP systems. I will be joining Red Hat as an intern this summer. My interests include open source software, operating systems, the Linux kernel, and system administration.

Things I'd like to do someday. Hack the ext4 journal. For simple host status queries. OOP) procfs interface for perl. I currently have no idea how I'd start working on this idea but I've always wanted to make a webcam version of this: example 360 video of Haiti. Play around with Plan 9. Is a free and open source OS developed by Bell Laboratories. Currently have a VM running Plan 9 and I'd like to get around running some sort of web server on it someday : ). Look into the Glendix project.

Saturday, August 09, 2008. I have been pretty busy with my gigs lately. Been trying to get out there as much as possible. It feels good cuz I can actually feel myself improving with my mixing and musical knowledge and stuff. But having said that, I still have a loooong way to go. They cost S$490 a piece, so that works up to almost $1k. Then I'll also have to get the Numark Virtual Vinyl, to connect the turntables to my laptop. Till next year. I love you all. Wednesday, January 6. Cow Say New Blog. Well, it finally happened; I decided to blog again. I know, I know - it took me long enough, right? Well, the reason for the six-month hiatus was simple: my old blog had finally become entirely too unmanageable. This statement might sound odd since a quick search of the archives at Cowtown and Coolage will show that for 6 of the 8 months that it was up and running, there were fewer than 10 friggin posts. Hell, for 3 of those months there were fewer than 5!
