~Letters from Candice~: August 2009
http://lettersfromcandice.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
What Ive been Reading. Thursday, August 27, 2009. The girls and H. The coming Sunday is a big, sad day because our dear friends are leaving us and returning to Croatia. Nana" (as H has pegged her), Nina and Dunja have become better friends to us than so many coworkers we've known over the past year. Of course, they have to return to their home across the world. We've been able to share Wyoming with them too. We all went to Yellowstone this month and it was so fun to watch H get passed around among so...

~Letters from Candice~: On Journaling
http://lettersfromcandice.blogspot.com/2015/03/on-journaling.html
What Ive been Reading. Tuesday, March 10, 2015. I will have been married ten years this summer and sadly, those married life entries fit into only two journals instead of ten. That is changing. I recently heard the term commonplace book. Daniel Coyle reminds us that we'll remember ten pages of a book better if we read it once and then write a one-page summary of what we read than if we read the same passage four times in a row. What does this look like in real life? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

http://quantum-meruit.blogspot.com/2012/05/top-shelf-10-books-for-road.html
Free opinions worth every penny. Thursday, May 31, 2012. The Top Shelf: 10 Books for the Road. So without further ado (and in honor of my upcoming cross-country road trip with a dear friend whom I have not seen in years- here's lookin' at you, kid), I present. 10 Books for the Road. Or the gym.) By which I mean: audiobooks. A disproportionate number of them are narrated by Brits (or other natives of the UK) because, well, I'm a sucker for accents. Plus they sound so much smarter. Whatever you may think a...

Free opinions worth every penny. Friday, April 29, 2011. Man of the Family, by Ralph Moody. Filed under: * * *. Another stellar entry from Ralph Moody. Even if it does make me feel like a lazy, incompetent layabout in comparison. I think I liked this one better than. Instead of being the superstar golden boy, Ralph is forced to use his skills to provide for his family. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Free opinions worth every penny. Monday, October 14, 2013. What Are You Afraid Of? Facing Down Your Fears with Faith, by Dr. David Jeremiah. Filed under: * *. An excerpt of a review recently posted on Schaeffer's Ghost. I confess, I know next to nothing about Dr. David Jeremiah. Imagine my delight when I discovered that Dr. Jeremiah’s analysis of fear is both biblically sound and practically helpful. In fact, I was originally asked. Full review available here. Free opinions worth every penny. Friday, January 14, 2011. The Valley of Vision: A Collection of Puritan Prayers and Devotions, by Arthur Bennet (ed.). Filed under: * * *. Quite possibly the best book I've read all year. These prayers are amazing. In Mudhouse Sabbath. End up meaning it somewhere along the way. Free opinions worth every penny. Monday, September 5, 2011. My Soul Is Rested: Movement Days in the Deep South Remembered, by Howell Raines. Filed under: * * *. This book is incredible: moving, eye-opening, horrifying, inspiring, and deeply disturbing, all at the same time. Raines wisely allows the various historical figures to describe their experiences in their own words, and so on some level it is their. Indeed, next to such dedication, even religious. Everyone should read this book. In particular...
