Life on 2.68 acres. The rest of our trip. September 3, 2015. The next morning we woke up to a lot of smoke. While I cooked breakfast, Harold started packing up the tent and all of our camping equipment. We got the suburban packed up and then headed out. We went to Challis and stopped for some ice. South of Challis we stopped at Bayhorse, a ghost town that was founded in 1877. It was a nice break to get out and walk around. This building had been sided and roofed with flattened cans. Life on 2.68 acres. It has been awhile. July 25, 2015. We have been enjoying some cooler weather the last couple of weeks. We have been in the 80s most of the time. It has been nice to not be running the swamp cooler all the time. We have been busy with things here at home and getting Josie ready for college. Finally today, we finished all our her shopping that we are helping her with. She still has to buy her textbooks and laptop. About half way up. Close to the top. The hand grips were very hot....

Cheryl's Frugal Corner: Health and Beauty Frugality
http://cherylsfrugalcorner.blogspot.com/2017/01/health-and-beauty-frugality.html
Tuesday, January 10, 2017. Health and Beauty Frugality. We all talk at the beginning of the year (every year) about how we need to get healthier, exercise and eat better. WE ALL KNOW WE NEED TO DO THESE THINGS! We eat pretty healthy for the most part (except at the holidays), and considering G's physical ailment, we are both pretty darn healthy. I DO NOT like to exercise at all! I spend at least an hour every day in the fresh air - regardless of how hot or cold it is. Then there is snow shoveling! Get a ...

Sunday, October 30, 2016. Happy Sunday to everyone. Here we are on the last weekend of the month, Halloween is tomorrow, and Thanksgiving will be here in a few short weeks. EEKS - how did this happen so quickly? We are having beautiful weekend here in Indiana. Last week we had some mornings that we needed to run the furnace a cycle or two. This coming week, both heat and AC will get to be off. YAY. We are to have upper 60's and low 70's all week! I am sure loving this. That's 260 Oreo's for $5.00....

Cheryl's Frugal Corner: November 2016

Tuesday, November 29, 2016. Jar Gifts and Other Fun Things. I promised some jar recipe gift ideas. Jar gifts are so easy to make from supplies on hand. Don't think you have to use canning jars - you can use whatever jars you have that "fit" the recipe. I LOVE giving food items, and most of my gift recipients ask for them - my theory - we ALL HAVE TO EAT! I love FREE groceries! Any home canned good works in a goody basket or bag. There are a lot of fun ideas available to fill in with. Here we go! Serve wi...

Cheryl's Frugal Corner: September 2016
http://cherylsfrugalcorner.blogspot.com/2016_09_01_archive.html
Thursday, September 29, 2016. Hope you are all having a great week. It has turned cooler here this week and wet. I figured I would share a picture or two. Meet "Chuck" the newest member of our backyard critters this fall. I think he is Italian! He seems to love eating the opal basil! He is one fat bugger. Here is "Rocky" (I call all the squirrels that). A squirrel and his walnut! She is just too darn cute for her own good. Hope you are having a great week. Tuesday, September 27, 2016. Life on 2.68 acres. June 9, 2015. It is hard to believe that Josie has graduated. She was ready to be done with high school. She started working with Emily at a local produce stand/fields. Right now they are spending their time hoeing corn, and planting some peppers and tomatoes. Today they started at 7:00 and got off at 3:00. It sure helps with the near hundred degrees that we hit today. Emily took this picture of Josie before the ceremony began. May 25, 2015. This afternoon we have been busy doing diff...

Life on 2.68 acres. We try to raise most of the things that we eat. We have a huge garden and an orchard of 14 fruit trees. We have a raspberry patch, a strawberry patch, two blackberry patches, and several grape vines in three different areas of our property. We raise steers, pigs, turkeys, and chickens for meat. We also raise chickens for eggs. We have about 1/2 acre or so of alfalfa for the animals. We let our chickens out in the pasture to roam in the afternoons. Blogs I enjoy reading. Life of a Caver.
