A Cracking Good Egg: Meringue with Pears, Hazelnuts and Chocolate Sauce

http://crackinggoodegg.blogspot.com/2009/07/meringue-with-pears-hazelnuts-and.html

A Cracking Good Egg. It's a food blog - what else can I say? Sunday, September 20, 2009. Meringue with Pears, Hazelnuts and Chocolate Sauce. Rest assured, I am still here. I have been very bad with posting. I haven't been well, and so the kitchen is collecting cobwebs. Hopefully, I will be back soon with goodies to share. And there is still the KJ Kitchen Aid Challenge. The finish line is in sight! Meringue with Pear, Hazelnuts and Chocolate Sauce. Adapted from Jamie at Home). 4 large egg whites. Spoon t...

A Cracking Good Egg: Challenge Book #43 - Animal Crackers

http://crackinggoodegg.blogspot.com/2009/10/challenge-book-43-animal-crackers.html

A Cracking Good Egg. It's a food blog - what else can I say? Wednesday, October 28, 2009. Challenge Book #43 - Animal Crackers. These animal crackers are deadly. Not in the figurative sense of being starfish - a creative use of my meagre stock of cookie cutters. Creatures not exactly known for their bloodthirsty cunning and ferocity. I was very surprised when I saw this recipe. I had no idea that animal crackers were sweet biscuits. Shirley Temple has a lot to answer for. 1/2 cup rolled oats. Add the but...

A Cracking Good Egg. It's a food blog - what else can I say? Monday, November 20, 2006. Who can resist shortbread? Melt in your mouth goodness. Add in some passionfruit and you have an irresistible combination. The tartness of the passionfruit contrasts beautifully with the sweet butteriness of the shortbread. I'm munching on one right now. By Stephanie Alexander from the Cook's Companion). Pipe on lined baking trays and bake in 220C oven for 5-8 minutes. Posted by KJ @ 8:10 pm. Links to this post. I am ...

A Cracking Good Egg: Cinnamon Buns

http://crackinggoodegg.blogspot.com/2009/08/cinnamon-buns.html

A Cracking Good Egg. It's a food blog - what else can I say? Tuesday, August 04, 2009. See these, these are cinnamon buns. And they are yummy. Scrummy in fact. See that icing, that is cream cheese icing. It is oh my god good. I was never all that enthused about cream cheese icing on cinnamon buns. It sounded kinda weird. It's not! I made sure I did not miss out on even a drip. 3 tsp Dry Yeast. 1 cup Warm Milk. 4 cups Plain Flour. 1 cup Brown Sugar. 1 cups Icing Sugar. Icing: While buns are baking, beat t...

A Cracking Good Egg: Little Apple Doughnuts with Blackberry Lemon Icing

http://crackinggoodegg.blogspot.com/2009/08/little-apple-doughnuts-with-blackberry.html

A Cracking Good Egg. It's a food blog - what else can I say? Sunday, August 09, 2009. Little Apple Doughnuts with Blackberry Lemon Icing. I think I have mentioned here before what a non-fan I am of deep frying. It's kinda scary and messy and plain old artery clogging. It would only be something with super duper irresistibly delicious potential that could tempt me into it. And here it is people - little apple doughnuts with blackberry lemon icing. Finally, I just wore myself down. 5 1/2 tbspn sugar*.

Merguez Sausage | Charcuterista

https://charcuterista.wordpress.com/2008/02/24/merguez-sausage

Making more from less. February 24, 2008. With preground meat, the sausage-making was a snap. I tossed the spices into my KitchenAid, mixed in the lamb, and incorporated the red wine and water until the mixture had achieved what is called its “primary bind.” All this means is that the spices and meat have come together in a sticky ball. I tried to work quickly to keep the meat well-chilled, apparently a key point in sausage-making. Adapted from Charcuterie, makes quite a bit of sausage. Mix until incorpo...

Monday, September 27, 2010. Daring Bakers - sugar cookies! The September 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Mandy of “ What the Fruitcake? 8221; Mandy challenged everyone to make Decorated Sugar Cookies based on recipes from Peggy Porschen and The Joy of Baking. Ok, so I know I haven't posted anything in over a year. Oh well. I made sugar cookies with jasmine essence! Cinnamon Love: Muffins for Mixing (mixing sound, that is...)

http://cinnlove.blogspot.com/2008/10/muffins-for-mixing-mixing-sound-that-is.html

Wednesday, November 19, 2008. Muffins for Mixing (mixing sound, that is.). I mentioned before that I've been blog MIA this semester because of the film I was busy pouring every hour of my life into for 2 months. Well, that's pretty much over now, because its a class involving partnerships, where each partnership makes 2 films during the semester, and takes turns directing. So I directed the first one (ugh! I could do was bake some of them a good breakfast on sound mix day! Adapted from this recipe. Zest ...

Wednesday, November 12, 2008. Chocolate Orange Cupcakes of Creamcheeesyness! You may have noticed that I've named these cupcakes after a person called Alex. This is because Alex is an amazing person who did something amazing for me - so amazing that there was absolutely no way I could thank her enough short of making her cupcakes and then naming them after her.  Which I like to think is somewhat of a high honor? Jimmy Gnecco, of whom I have spoken before. 1/2 cup butter, room temperature. 1 tsp vanilla e...

Monday, June 1, 2009. Pear Upside Down Spice Cake. Mmmmmm pears and spice. and honey. and lemon. and caramel. When I was in Japan, I shared a room with an incredible girl whose obsession with food impressed even me. She is one of the most entertaining people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting,  and the whole time we lived together I really wanted to bake something for her, but couldn't because we basically lived in a hotel room and I had no oven! Will try this one soon. October 31, 2009 at 3:14 AM.

Cinnamon Love: Chocolate Marshmallow Cookies with Raspberry!!!!

http://cinnlove.blogspot.com/2008/08/chocolate-marshmallow-cookies-with.html

Wednesday, September 10, 2008. Chocolate Marshmallow Cookies with Raspberry! So after all the flaming desserts at the beach. I was left in my apartment with a bad sunburn, leftover marshmallows, and a script hanging over my head that needed to be written.  . Since I had the script, I of course. Hadn't planned on baking anything but of course. Oooooh man they were sooo good - this was one of the rare occasions in my life where I end up eating more of something I baked than I give away to other people....

Last year, my sister-in-law and her two boys moved to Anchorage, Alaska, much to the chagrin of the family and especially my son, who ADORES his older cousins. As soon as we heard about the move, we knew we’d be taking a trip to visit them in their new home sooner rather than later. We booked a trip for June. In actuality, June in Alaska is COLD!
