Alice and Florence: May 2013
http://aliceandflorence.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Quilting, textiles, stories, travels, exhibitions, bits of life. Thursday, 30 May 2013. Where has this past month gone? I find it hard to believe that June is almost upon us. I have a few weeks to catch up with. So here goes. I have just spent a week in Cornwall, down by Trewellard, near Pendeen and St. Just. I have made up a quilt top that reminds me of the sea and seaweed and mussel shells washed up on the shore. The walk to the seapath. I popped into the Seasalt shop. Where the other half of the prese...

The sometime seamstress: August 2013
http://thesometimeseamstress.blogspot.com/2013_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, 15 August 2013. I already bought new fabric! Who carries 3.5 m of (the same) fabric in their stash? It's in the wash right now, and I'm hoping to trace the pattern to sew at the weekend :). Love everyone's versions of this dress. I been stalking like mad! By the way - Jackie! You get the skirt. I have tried to email you a few times using the address you gave me but my mail keeps getting returned. Please mail me your details so I can send it out to you. kirstyboys@hotmail.com. Maybe next time :-).

The sometime seamstress: July 2013
http://thesometimeseamstress.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 July 2013. FO - Yellow floral Banksia top. So, I finished this Banksia top. I will certainly be making more of these for sure, it is such an easy top to wear. And I like that its made in woven fabric as I am still yet to try and sew with a knit fabric. I feel scared for some reason! More to do with the effects of the fabric on size, rather than a fear of actually sewing with the fabric. I must admit I don't wear this one quite so much as the star print banksia. Tuesday, July 30, 2013. So both...

The sometime seamstress: A new hobby
http://thesometimeseamstress.blogspot.com/2014/10/a-new-hobby.html
Wednesday, 22 October 2014. I have taken up crochet. I only learnt in the last few weeks using you tube videos as my guide - and I can confirm that I love it! So much faster than knitting, and I just love seeing the squares come to life in my hands. So far I have only purchased yarn from the bargain buckets, as I didn't want to spend much while learning. I can't wait until I am confident enough to part with a little more moolah choosing colours that make my heart sing. Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Vintag...

The sometime seamstress: Rest in peace Oscar de la Renta
http://thesometimeseamstress.blogspot.com/2014/10/rest-in-peace-oscar-de-la-renta.html
Wednesday, 22 October 2014. Rest in peace Oscar de la Renta. Like many others, I was saddened to hear of the passing of my favourite fashion designer, Oscar de le Renta. If I had the means I would dress in his designs every single day. The man knew how to dress a woman. His passing, and his spring / summer 2015 collection have spurred me to make a dress inspired by the legend himself. Dress by Oscar de la Renta S/S 2015. Wednesday, October 22, 2014. The sometime seamstress: More crochet
http://thesometimeseamstress.blogspot.com/2014/11/more-crochet.html
Monday, 3 November 2014. Today feels much more like winter. Cold, wet and dark. I can't complain though as it's been beautifully sunny and mild here of late - perfect weather! Plus the onset of the more seasonal wintery weather makes me even more keen to crochet. I love the pinks and greens together - and I'm pretty happy with all my squares so far - bargain basement and all. I can't wait to have enough squares to make a blanket - maybe sometime in the New Year :). Monday, November 03, 2014. Culling My F...

The sometime seamstress: Still sewing :)
http://thesometimeseamstress.blogspot.com/2014/04/still-sewing.html
Sunday, 27 April 2014. Feeling the love for Emery right now :) when it's finished later today it will be number 2. I did make a bunch of changes to the pattern - raised the arm to hide bra straps ;) lengthened the bodice a smidge, created a pleated skirt, pinched out excess gape around neck and removed armhole gaping created from having a large bust. As usual I didn't put in a zip (not sorry! I'm such a bad blogger. Since my last post I have made : (and this is more to remind myself! 2 x Anna dress.
