Val Spiers Sews: January 2015

Tuesday, January 27, 2015. Cooking for Two - Meatballs and Cherry Relish. This meal was my first foray into the kitchen for quite some time. I cook the odd cake or pikelets but this was a lot of fun. I got out my herb chopper. I got out my mortar and pestle. I refused to get my hands all sticky mixing the meat. It was bad enough rolling the meatballs. There was just enough for two but DH doesn't like all the spicy bits so I got to put the other half away for the next day. Meatballs and Cherry Relish.

Val Spiers Sews: December 2014
http://valspierssews.blogspot.com/2014_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 30, 2014. Easy Binding and a Sandy Intruder. As I go through my sewing room boxes I am finding all sorts of things. Yesterday I had an orphan block from the second quilt I started. I decided I didn’t really like the fabric so it wasn’t worth finishing a big quilt. I put together some of the blocks and started making a smaller quilt. This block is a left over. I have backed it and bound it to put under my overlocker. Here it is on You Tube. Most of my sewing is still doll clothes. I ...

Val Spiers Sews: May 2014
http://valspierssews.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 28, 2014. Welcome to the North Pole SAL for May. Just a little bit of progress this month. I have two more stars attached. I have also decided that after trying several small projects using needle turn applique that it is just not my thing. I will be finishing this table runner using fusible applique. I still like the look of needle turn applique but not so much that I want to do it. I am perfectly happy with the results of fusible applique. Happy Quilting and Crafting,. To quilting (How f...

Val Spiers Sews: June 2014
http://valspierssews.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 29, 2014. Welcome to the North Pole SAL for June. I just managed to get a bit of fusing done on my table runner but I couldn't focus on posting about it yesterday. I hope all those working on the North Pole blocks have managed to get some done this month. I have swapped from needle turn to fused applique half way through my table runner. I am just not cut out for the fiddly hand sewing. I have fused on some windows but still have to sew them down. Happy Quilting and Crafting,. I love fabric ...

Val Spiers Sews: Stumpy the cat
http://valspierssews.blogspot.com/p/stumpy-cat.html
Stumpy is the last of our faithful friends. He was my cat from the beginning whereas the others were always someone else's in the family. Blacky was DD2's cat, Tommy was DH's cat, Stimpy was generally shared and Elmo was a foster cat that needed a home because his owners moved away. So Stumpy is the centre of attention now. He gets a bit lonely I think but he is not inclined to play much at his age. He gets to go outside whenever he likes but mostly he can be found asleep not far from me wherever I am.

Val Spiers Sews: April 2015
http://valspierssews.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Sunday, April 19, 2015. I have some physical scrapbooks from the late 80's early 90's when the daughters were little and we moved around a bit. I thought it would be nice to have a journal with photos and various clippings as a memory jogger for the different places we lived. Those were the days when you had to wait 3 days to get your photos back and my scrapbook was a school project book from Big W where I glued everything in with a regular glue stick. For $10 USD a month you get personal use downloads.
