Citizen Band Radio's Honored Ancestors. From S9 magazine January 1977 issue. History of early CB RADIO. International Crystal Mod.10 was a three channel transmit with tunable receiver. Poly Compact was an experiment in a sub-miniature rig. It was a flop. Sampson Modular was a popular station. Metrotek, not too many of these left. Polytectnics N sold for $189.95. Vocaline Commaire ED-27M from 1963. Utica Town and Country III achieved some popularity and was top of the line.

Intermark Cipher 1000, was never put into production by the manufacturer. RCA Mark 9, nicely designed with a brushed steel faceplate. Hallmark 2-12 came from a Texas manufacturer but never caught on. Tram TR-70 tipped the scales at $223 back in 1963. Knight C-11 was an inexpensive kit.

Heath GW-12 was among the least expensive kit radios ever offered at $40. Kaar TR-327 D-Phone sold originally for $179. International Crystal MO-23 was mounted in the trunk and used a remote head. Alliance Genie-Phone was manufactured by the rotor company of the same name. Cadet 500 sold for $200 in 1963.
