Sunday, January 23, 2011. We just had a minor earthquake – it just felt like the floor was moving but apparently it was quite strong in Managua which is about 40km away. The local newspaper online reported it was short but strong but they had no way of finding out because the earthquake caused the phone lines and website for the Nica Seismic Institute to crash. Monday, April 11, 2011. The next stage of our adventure started with a weekend in Panama City. Kinda nice to be back in the first world again. Panama City is booming but in the worst possible way. It is a city completely gear towards cars therefore no sidewalks and gridlock 24/7. Had a nice visit - stayed in a nice hostal and got to see the canal which was interesting! Click here for the pix. Sadly Michal will be leaving Nicaragua next month to go a family reunion in Australia and then back home to Israel to decide what is her next big adventure. Thursday, March 3, 2011. Wow – our time is winding down fast. We only have one month left after which we leave for a month in Panama, Peru and Costa Rica and return home to Calgary on May 1st. Later on back in Granada we went to a pig roast with the folks from Red Deer and Vernon. They brought down a huge duffle bag of clothes friends and family had given them to share with some of the less fortunate people here. Everything was really well received! Saturday, August 28, 2010. How is that for service? At the office of the root canal Specialist, Eva didn’t even have to wait for them to finish squishing the ants. Today in Spanish class Craig learned the present tense, past tense and past participle for the word “Shipwreck”. We are both wondering why the Spanish teacher, out of all the important words and phrases that we need to know in order to live down here, thought it imperative to teach Craig how to say “shipwreck”?
