First an update of last few days birding, Nowt special on patch but Redwing and 2 Stock Doves in the Garden. Had the Day at Minsmere, but was pretty quiet, saw the usual Bitterns, Ducks, Marsh Tit, Water rail and Marsh Harriers. 2 Whooper Swans were new to me here. Then I spotted 14 Tundra Bean Geese. Year tick)and eventually counted 20.

Its been a very hard but rewarding week on the patch. Its rained every night after work but I carried on regardless. The dogs still needed walking. Anyway Common migrants on the patch were Willow Warbler, Whinchat, Wheatear, Pied Fly, Spot Fly and Redstart. Hobby too. So with aching feet I'm going to relax for a bit. Sunday, 23 August 2015.

So the last 2 weeks has been my quietest time ever for birding. Although Moulting Drake Goosander last week was a patch tick. RB Merganser, Whimbrel, a few Med gulls were on the move and a Humming Bird hawk moth visited the garden as well as 50 yards down the street feeding on Valarium. Unfortunately I found a Dead Juvenile Cuckoo by the NSW.

Tuesday, 13 May 2014. Started the day at the visitor centre entrance to the dam wall, had cuckoo calling and a couple of red legged partridge. South dam wall car park had female goosander and a roe deer. Pow hill was a bit more productive with crossbill, siskin and red squirrel. Blanchland moors grey partridge. A couple of quick trips out this week to see some local(ish) orchids. The Early Purple Orchids. Are putting on a fine display amongst the Bluebells. In Ashwellthorpe Wood with plenty of colour variation. Try as I might I couldn't find a white one like last year though! A new one for me) while there was also Garden Bumblebee.

Wednesday found a couple of Firecrest on the patch in Furze wood. Saturday i thought id see if the Black Redstarts were still present but the mini beast from the east had hit and i physically couldn't get onto the prom. Im sure they would have moved off in those conditions anyway it was far too wild. Called it a day and headed home to warm up.

Craig's Heart
Sunday, October 27, 2013. STILL IN RECOVERY MODE. Craig is still very much in recovery, but getting a little better every day. He still hurts a lot, and is very tired. He pretty much sticks to the house except to get his bloodwork done, or if he goes on a little errand with me, and sits in the car. It's mentally hard for Craig, but with this operation behind him, he can truly move on this time. He does admit, it's very nice to have his stomach back, without the alien invading it.
