Adding new rule to IPTables. After a fresh install of CentOS only basic ports will have external access rules preset in your iptables setup. If you install a web server or anything else that needs a port open you will need to tell iptables to give it access. Iptables -I INPUT -p tcp - dport 80 -j ACCEPT. That will allow any connection, trying to access port 80 to connect to the service that is running on the server. Someones you might only want a certain ip address access, maybe to ssh for example.

Developing locally always involves editing the /etc/hosts file to resolve a domain to your local host and then having to setup DNS servers to be able to check on my mobile or tablet. Xipio seems to have solved this issue by creating a custom DNS service that allows you to resolve a custom domain to an internal ip address so when any other device does a lookup it resolves correctly.
