A group of five backpackers explore the wilderness section within Idaho's Craters of the Moon National Monument. What with no rivers, streams, lakes, or surface water of any type- timing is everything on expeditions such as these- adventures into the lava fields need to happen in late winter or early spring while snow banks are still available or sub-surface caves still contain ice.
