The Mill and its machinery are Grade II Listed. We provide Bed and Breakfast accommodation for 6 guests in a peaceful location with spacious, comfortable bedrooms, providing an ideal place to relax and unwind. Children over six are very welcome. We have 3 beautiful cottages, sleeping 2, 4 and 6 guests. A path leads over a small footbridge for a short walk along Crakehall Beck to the village. Wake to the sound of the water passing below your bedroom window. Imagine the peace, with wildlife in abundance even an occasional kingfisher! A mill was recorded here in Little Crakehall in the Domesday Survey of 1086AD. The current working mill dates from the 17th century and is an excellent example of a country corn mill. Barbel and Chub Fishing on the River Swale. Welcome to Crakehill Angling. January 24, 2014. For many years this stretch was controlled by Thirsk Angling Club who have now, sadly, folded (Dec 2013). We decided to try and preserve the fishing at Crakehill for a few like minded anglers who appreciate fishing this attractive part of the Swale. Above the weir the Swale backs up a little and is quite deep and slow, classic walking pace barbel and chub territory. A nice barbel caught by one of our members.
