When mass production meets real estate. Looking Up: The Sidewalk Shed of the Future? Bloomberg's fancy new sidewalk sheds. Count me as one of the skeptics. At any rate, I view these newfangled sidewalk sheds as symptomatic of the Bloomberg machine. They don’t actually exist. The city has declared that they’ll be used in the future, but who will pay for them? Of course not. It would be a ridiculous waste of money. I’m no fan of the sidewalk sheds in this town, but who ever said they should be pretty?
