The thing is, they hardly ever happen anymore! Could be due to not drinking, could be due to continuing along through bereavement, could be both, who the heck knows- I like myself more now, though. Monday, July 18, 2016. Day 120: Not Drinking Continues To Be AWESOME! Some assorted things of note:. My biggest ...

Welcome to my private sober internet diary :). Tuesday, May 31, 2016. Day 72: The Ghost of Drinking Future. Take a bit of the edge off. Take some pain away. Dull some bad memories. Then soon after I think, ah but it would certainly not be mellowing.it would be consuming. It would not do anything except make things worse. Because of course IT WOULD NEVER BE JUST ONE! Monday, May 30, 2016. Day 71: Pain and Peace. Sunday, May 29, 2016. Day 70: Honoring Loss. Saturday, May 28, 2016. Friday, May 27, 2016.

http://crawlingwalkingdancing.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html
Welcome to my private sober internet diary :). Thursday, March 31, 2016. Things are good. Tough. Drinking-wise I feel pretty awesome. It's just very difficult during some moments of the day when grief bleeds in. I am haunted by memories of the end. Where are the memories of before? Planted a bunch of seeds, got my nursing study book, de-cluttered, and I am learning Spanish on my Duolingo app. Life is pretty cool! Besides the soul-crushing pain of course! Wednesday, March 30, 2016. Day 10 Part 7. Cool boo...

Welcome to my private sober internet diary :). Saturday, April 30, 2016. Hello out there. Just want to share that it's Day 41 today so I officially have 40 full days under the old sober belt. I've had a lot of random, weird thoughts about drinking and not drinking, but through it all, no alcohol. It doesn't really seem like many days but I appreciate each of them and am not trying to diminish them. Friday, April 29, 2016. Thursday, April 28, 2016. Wednesday, April 27, 2016. Putting Down The Glass: Week 8/52 - New Years Eve...I made it!
http://puttingdowntheglass.blogspot.com/2016/12/week-852-new-years-evei-made-it.html
Putting Down The Glass. Saturday, 31 December 2016. Week 8/52 - New Years Eve.I made it! Oh wow day 56 and I made it through New Years Eve! I can't tell you how happy I am, how proud I am and how thankful, after experiencing a real moment of 'I'm going to drink' that I am still here sober. I was doing fine, but we are away on holiday with friends, all the people around us were drinking, everyone I was with was drinking, it was a happy, festive, party atmosphere. I wanted to be part of it. I love your hus...

Trying to ace sober living. July 20, 2015. I went to see Aerosmith last night. They played in our small city, at an outdoor venue. Let me start by saying it was awesome. They rocked. The weather was perfect. It was fun, fun, fun. Honestly, I will admit I have never been much of a concert person. They are loud, crowded and smelly. And the line ups for beer and bathrooms? I had a fantastic time. I had a great time. I loved every song. I remember everything. I danced (well, shifted around) and d...I laughed...

Putting Down The Glass: August 2016
http://puttingdowntheglass.blogspot.com/2016_08_01_archive.html
Putting Down The Glass. Tuesday, 16 August 2016. Well this week I'm feeling unsure about my alcohol free future. There are a few things that have happened in the last two weeks that are making me want to stop doing this. The first is I said no to a night out with my best friends, I just didn't want to go out to dinner and drinks if I can't drink too. I really felt bad and that I missed out. I said no to drinks with the Mum's in my child's class, again I don't want to go and not drink. I would like to tha...

Trying to ace sober living. Monthly Archives: July 2015. July 24, 2015. Its been 600 hangover free days. 600 days of living. I know this because my good friend is 2 days ahead of me. I never counted days. I couldn’t figure out what I was tracking…. I clearly am not counting to somewhere, as this is not a temporary thing. And I deeply believe in taking each day as it comes. So it’s taken 600 days to get to that point. I’m glad I waited. This is the right time to make space for the new. View all 36 comments.

Trying to ace sober living. Monthly Archives: August 2015. August 20, 2015. I went to a Nicki Minaji concert last night with my daughter and my friend and her daughter. The friend moved away early this year, and I miss her a lot. Cleo, my daughter, misses her friend. So this seemed like a good opportunity to see them. Although, in hindsight, Nicki may be a tad mature for Cleo, who is 10! I might have missed this. And that would have been a true loss. View all 23 comments. August 17, 2015. I went into the...

Putting Down The Glass: Week 7/52
http://puttingdowntheglass.blogspot.com/2016/12/week-752.html
Putting Down The Glass. Sunday, 25 December 2016. That's it.between 9 adults! There were 3 of us who didn't drink. I swear I've never seen anything like it. When I cleared the table at the end, the bottle of red still had a small amount left in it! Who are these crazy people, what on earth was going on? Is it always like that? Last year I drank at least a bottle of wine to myself, probably more. Did everyone else share one between them? Why didn't anyone else want to drink? Putting Down The Glass. I thin...

Day 1 Without NA Beer and Rhubarb – suburban betty
https://suburbanbettycleanandserene.wordpress.com/2015/08/14/day-1-without-na-beer-and-rhubarb
Day 1 Without NA Beer and Rhubarb. August 14, 2015. August 14, 2015. Fortunately, the withdrawal symptoms are not as hairy with this. Spouse offered me one with my tacos and I almost took it, remembered my bowels, declined. So I tried the Dry sparkling beverage suggested by one of the Wendys and since the store didn’t have the lavender one, I had a rhubarb flavor. Very interesting. At first I was like, WTF is this? NAWhy Hast Thou Forsaken Me? And My Sober Treat Is A Trip To Costco. Liked by 1 person.

Grocery Amusements and Vexing Lack of Lavender Products. August 10, 2015. August 10, 2015. So when I went to the store tonight to get fixins for my son’s 18th birthday dinner, I realized I was out of several types of detergent (get this: my HUSBAND called to tell me we were out of laundry soap. Mhmmmm. Keeper). It’s so tired) and “fresh”. What the fuck is “fresh”? As opposed to “fish-heads” or possibly “gym socks”? At least I can take the lid off the laundry soap and. 8221; and he said, “What? For me, it...

Trying to ace sober living. Monthly Archives: May 2015. May 27, 2015. My daughter made a comment yesterday that stuck with me. She said all I ever read are books about religion or love. On my bedside at the time were the Tao Te Ching and Life Loves You. I paused, and had to agree. In the past year I have read a lot of spiritual books. Books about yoga, and addiction, and happiness and life. Books filled with thoughts and ideas. Not all of them speak to me – but I like knowing. How times have changed!

Trying to ace sober living. Monthly Archives: March 2015. One day at a time adds up. March 31, 2015. I see a lot of bloggers debate the idea of one day at a time vs forever. I think both work. Eventually things settled down. And I began to notice the beauty of life around me. I started to realize I had created a shell of self pity and resentment around me. I felt hard done by, unloved, un noticed. And I was. But only by ME. View all 28 comments. Reiki…and a lesson in letting go. March 16, 2015. For anyon...

Welcome to my private sober internet diary :). Wednesday, November 9, 2016. Day 234: Alcohol Has No Home Here. Friday, November 4, 2016. Fall is such a beautiful season. The trees are so lovely and it just feels like walking inside of a painting with all of the color and light. My dad was far from perfect, and I have very few illusions about this, but it will never change the fact that above all, he loved me unconditionally, and for that I am so lucky and grateful. And I miss that so much. Day 227: Part 2.

Crawling Walls: New Mexico Garage Psych
New Mexico Garage Psych. In the summer of 1979 I moved to Albuquerque to start a Ph.D. program in statistics. Yes, punk bands would play at gay bars, something that would have been unheard of in most other parts of the planet. Floor Elevators, Moving Sidewalks, The Golden Dawn, Mouse and the Traps, Shiva’s Headband, the Sir Douglas Quintet, and Bubble Puppy. When I returned to Albuquerque, I bought a copy of Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era. Because of its proximity to West Texa...
