The Trials And Tribulations Of A Poker Amateur As He Makes His Way To The WSOP.In 2010. Thursday, September 21, 2006. Played an $11 3-Table SNG last night, doing pretty well by finishing in second. Overall I was pretty pleased with my play. I only made one big mistake, and was able to make moves at the right time. The crazy thing about the table was the number of suckouts I was involved in at the late stages of the table. It would have made for great TV:. I was able to start out early with this hand:.

The Trials And Tribulations Of A Poker Amateur As He Makes His Way To The WSOP.In 2010. Monday, January 29, 2007. Yesterday I got my first MTT win in a while. OK, so it was more of a 2-table SnG than it was a MTT, but 2 is more than 1, so in my book, it counts. Won a small pot with ATo. Flop was all low cards but turn went check bet fold. Play was par for the course for $5 games. 7 hands in, and the chip leader raises 20xBB from MP. No one has a hand so everyone folds. Take the blinds with 88, AQo. First...

The Trials And Tribulations Of A Poker Amateur As He Makes His Way To The WSOP.In 2010. Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Last Time.I Mean It. Called 96off from the small blind, flopped top pair, and called to the end thinking my pair was probably good (rightly so; the opponent flopped bottom pair with a flush draw. Nevermind that, even though there was no raise preflop, he played 10-3 suited out of position. Yes, this was on Party Poker). The turn comes another low card, he bets out 250, and I fold. At th...

The Trials And Tribulations Of A Poker Amateur As He Makes His Way To The WSOP.In 2010. Tuesday, December 12, 2006. It's Only After We've Lost Everything That We're Free To Do Anything. A great man once said that. It sort of applies to this post. I've said it a couple times already, but I'm pretty sure that I mean it this time when I say that I've played poker for the last time this year. At least it ended well. Turn is a blank. He pushes me in and I say fuck it and call. This is basically the plan until...

The Trials And Tribulations Of A Poker Amateur As He Makes His Way To The WSOP.In 2010. Wednesday, February 28, 2007. Live Bloggin' The Mook. Thanks be to Mookie, for answering my half-serious, half-in jest post regarding tonight's game. I never really expected anyone to take my. Bust Fuel55 from the tourney. Take the whole thing down tonight. Have some fun tonight and surely donk my money away again. Yes, I just. Looked up how to do a strikethrough with HTML today. Posted by Matt @ 12:01 PM. So I got an...

The Trials And Tribulations Of A Poker Amateur As He Makes His Way To The WSOP.In 2010. Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Win Some, Lose Some.Lose Some More. Wouldn't he reraise to isolate? I put the shortstack on something like AJ, and if that's the case, that makes AA even less likely. I decided to push for 1650 or so and he calls.with AA. I probably fold if the big stack does raise to isolate, so I give him credit for a good play on his part. Just another horrible run of the cards. Same Horse, New Saddle.

The Trials And Tribulations Of A Poker Amateur As He Makes His Way To The WSOP.In 2010. Tuesday, October 10, 2006. Of course I failed to account for the fact that, with the exception of my friend who bartends at Applebee's, I would be the ONLY one available to hang out in the middle of the day. So, with nothing to do in the daytime until my girlfriend arrived 5 days later, I did the only thing that made sense - I fired up Party Poker. AT vs a shortstack's A6 - river is a 6. AT vs KQh - he turns a flush.
